Carson Palmer = Yes Please

The Clausen comment doesn't surprise me at all. Just listening to Rivera and Hurney, you get that impression, even though they're trying pretty hard not to throw the kid under the bus, they have no confidence in JC. Plus, how many times did Steve Smith call T/O last year because Clausen couldn't get the play called on time or couldn't get everybody lined up right? That crap was embarrasing, especially since it was usually followed by a no gain and a punt.

It amazes me that people can't understand why the defense couldn't hold out every week. The lack of offensive production had to be even more soul crushing for them, than it was for us fans....especially late in the season.

Side note: Moose says he's talked to high ranking officials in the Panthers org that feel the offense was limited by Clausen's inability to grasp the playbook and they are definitely looking for someone else.

If this is true, wow. You couldn't get any simpler than jog into the backfield and hand the ball off. Then again, he did have problems taking snaps :/

I disagree to the absolute extreme on the "get em and put em out there!" direction. Did we learn nothing last season? I don't think it's reasonable to expect a kid fresh out of (or even still in!) college to become the leader of the team after 4 months of being the new guy. Couple that with the skill level increase from players in the NFL to those in college, and there's bound to be adjustment issues.

Coach Rivera expressed during his press conference how he believed in giving rookies time to develop (3 years was the number he used, and I agree wholeheartedly with it). Regardless of who the team drafts, time and effort need to be put into developing him to take the reigns.

Of course if the rookie is producing from day 1 (ie: Suh), then get em out there!

Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan are exceptions, not the norm.

Someone just called into to Frank & Moose on WFNZ and asked about McNabb vs. Palmer...

Frank says McNabb over Palmer = no brainer because he feels McNabb has more left in the tank.

Moose also says he would take McNabb before Palmer and he made a good point, he says he thinks it's a risk to sign Palmer because of the comments he made... he's got 80 million in the bank and would be happy to "live his life" so what would happen if it turned out he wasn't happy here either?

Side note: Moose says he's talked to high ranking officials in the Panthers org that feel the offense was limited by Clausen's inability to grasp the playbook and they are definitely looking for someone else.

10000x better and more accurate than the water cooler nonsense posted around here lately.

obviously it'd be stupid to bet the farm on him, but if he could be had for a decent swap (moving two spots down in the draft is NOT that big of a deal) it makes perfect sense.

would take more than that in my opinion

Palmer is their franchise QB. We'd likely have to give up at least a 3rd or even future picks to get Palmer from them(along with swapping firsts).

I'm ok with Palmer if we get him by only trading #1 picks this year. I think it's fair. We take on a huge risk with him, between his contract, his "money in the bank" threats, etc. If it doesn't work out like that, we should try to get McNabb.

I'm not reading four pages. Just going to reply. I think a change of scenery would do wonders for Palmer. Smitty would finally benefit, as would Gettis and LaFell. We'd needn't worry about a QB in this year's Draft and heck...maybe he could actually help Jimmy for whatever Jimmy's future has in store. Moore surely couldn't have done a damn thing for the kid. We need a vet. I still like Orton for some reason, but Palmer is way better once he gets his kinks worked out.
