Carson Palmer = Yes Please

Saying he's a significant upgrade over anything we have isn't saying much, LOL

All things being equal, I'd much rather get McNabb... there's clearly something wrong with Palmer's arm.

I am not sold on McNabb outside of Andy Reid's WCO....he looked like total garbarge in Washington.

However, I would be ok with McNabb....but I would prefer Carson. He has been successful in a similar offense to what we are likely to run.

I have never been a fan of Carson Palmer. I thought he was overrated and still do, but it'd be foolish not to pursue him or McNabb this off-season. I trust Donovan's arm more, but I would prefer the player be a combination of teacher and winner. If they can't be bothered to big brother jimmy or the rest of the team for that matter, turn em away

At what price. If it is going to take two #1 draft picks than no.

I would love to have him but is he good enough to give the farm away is my only thing!

I would not give up ANYTHING close to a first round pick for him.

Given the fact that he has told Cinn that he will retire before he plays next season for them, his value is much, much lower.

If he sticks to that stance, the Bengals could either watch him retire and get nothing. Or, they could get something (lower pick or switching picks) for him and send him to an NFC team.

Even the Bengals are not stupid enough to let him retire.....

Agreed. Our holes last year were the passing game, injuries on the offensive line and poor play at the tackle. Get a QB, get Otah healthy, and get a couple of new DT's, and we could be good this coming season.

and the most important piece, intelligent offensive-minded coach/QB coach/and Rivera who can dissect the opposing defense as he talked about helping our offense..

McNabb was 26-49 for 357 yards against the Packers last year... you know, the guys that won the SB.

But his passer rating was 75 and he threw for 1 TD and I Int.

The general debate around here has suggested that a decent QB should post a passer rating above 80. Last year out of 13 starts he posted 3 games with a rating over 80. He posted twice that many with ratings in the 60s or below.

By comparison Palmer had 7 games with ratings over 80 and 6 games with rating in the 60s or below.

Honestly neither guy really send me screaming their praises although if Shula could do for them what he did for Garrard it might be worth a risk if they were cheap.

I still don't know if either has the arm for a vertical downfield passingattack.

Still, not many people hung 357 yards on the Packers this past season...

You should also factor in that Palmer was playing in the same system he's played in for years with a decent o-line and at least one good receiver whom he's very comfortable with while McNabb was playing in a totally new system, with nobody worth a damn at WR whom he has any familiarity with behind what may be the worst o-line in the NFL.

I'm not saying McNabb is going to put us on his back and carry us to the SB, but at this point I think he's a better bet than Palmer simply because Palmer seems to have something seriously wrong with his arm and I'm not willing to forget about 11 years of success for McNabb (granted, in a WCO) vs. one year of failure with the Skins (who could make any QB look bad).

ya and he also got benched for Rex Grossman

Salt my friend, that whole situation is BS. Bottom line Shanahans kid sucks ass as an OC and when McNabb tried to do something about it, Shanahan made him the scape goat.

Honestly if they would take our 4th I have no issues with mcNabb. The guy still has 3-4 good seasons in him which allows us to move down, grab more defense, maybe get a 2nd rounder to grab a QB and develop OR take one in the first next year and develop them.

Zod, if palmer was still the qb he once was, i'd be dooling all over the chance to get him as a panther qb.

Fact is, he's barely a shell of the qb he once was.

You want a broken qb, go for it...beat that drum. It won't make him back into the qb he once was.

I'd take either Palmer or McNabb to mentor Cam/Clausen they're the best vet options out there. I wouldn't be expecting much the move would strictly be for a veteran presence behind center and take our young QB's under there wing.

I'd take McNabb over Palmer though look how he helped Vick...

    • Defense was not that good last night. However, if they can clean up some terrible offensive zone clears and bad defense(from offensive players too) they will be unbeatable.    I said this last night to my wife at the game, the only team that can beat the canes this year is the canes.  Stay out of box, know when to pinch, don’t get caught flat footed, and clear the damn puck.
