Carson Palmer = Yes Please

It will be interesting what Chud and Rivera think of him. He played pretty poorly against us but against San Diego in week 16 he posted a Qb rating of 157 with 4 TDs and O INTs and was 16 of 21 for 269 yards and a completion % over 75%.

I know people look at a full body of work but they also look at how a team does against them when they play each other. Part of Gruden's comments about Steve Smith for example come from playing him twice a year and getting routinely burned.

I wonder if performances like the San Diego game would make Rivera have a very positive sense of Palmer and might make it likely we would want him.

as normal zob is right, carson would be a great addition, anyway you can get him!

smity would stay, the young WRs would have a former All-pro to work with.

the panthers would have a chance late in game, rather than NOT....

They have to take a serious look at his elbow. After that I agree with Panthro. Warner in Arizona is a great example.

But I think the most important thing for some fans to see here is that no, this isn't a long term solution but it can allow the team an additional 2-3 years to find the player they truely believe in to pick as the long term solution. Why settle on Newton or Gabbert or any QB. Trade for Palmer and see who's available in 2012 or 2013.

Palmer may not be a long term solution but he's not a short term solution either.

Yup, he hurt is arm two seasons ago and it's gradually been getting worse, so by all means lets go get him!

Carson Palmer has good career stats because he WAS a good QB at one point, just not anymore.

Its funny you say all that when the qb u want so bad is a has been wco qb. I would take Palmer over mcnabb here any day of the week.

Tired of reading most of you say Palmer is not needed here.

News Flash: He would instantly be the best QB the Panthers have ever had.

6'5, 236lbs , he fits the physical mold that Rivera has stated he wants.

31 years old, 9 years experience. He has 4-5 good years left in him. He would not be a "stop gap"

First overall pick in 2003. Guess what, he wasn't a bust unlike the majority of QB's in this years draft inevitably will be.

Career QB rating of 86.9. Palmer was 6th in the league in passing in 2010 EVEN THOUGH the Bengals averaged a league low 3.6 yards per carry on the ground. Think teams were game planning against the run? Think again.

In short, shut your pie holes, we would be fortunate to get Palmer.

I would love to see us switch #1 picks with Cinn and get Palmer as compensation.

That's a lot of money left to pay him over the next four years of his contract. 11 million base salary this next season increasing by one million each year topping at 14 million in his final year. In addition to that a one million bonus added to that for each of his final three seasons '12-'14. All for a QB whose rating has dropped each year for five straight years from above 100 to the low 80's.

Given his comments and how bad he wants out of Cinn (who could blame him), he would likely be willing to restructure his contract to be much more favorable.

Hell, he is willing to retire at this point rather than play for Cinn.

He could come here with great RB's, an all-pro WR is Smitty, several other good young receivers, a very good OLine (if they stay healthy), and a good defense (that will be better with Rivera at the helm).

I would love to get him here.

He threw for 4,000 yards last season....an immediately and significant upgrade over anything we have or anything that we could bet in the draft or FA.

That's all fine and good, but Carson had the same injury Jake did, elected not to have surgery and as a result has a wet noodle for an arm...

Watch this:

Ask yourself this, if Palmer is so great, how did the Bengals end up with the 4th overall pick?

They lost 6 game that were directly the result of God Awful Special Teams.

Carson Palmer = F*** No!

Yea, let's settle for another project QB who has never taken snaps under center....never read defenses....never went throw progressions....was in a one read and run offense....that had big time accuracy issues at the combine.

Yea, that is a much better choice.
