Newton: Shit just hit the Fan..

You honestly believe he's a second round prospect with his skill set and high ceiling? you're opinion everyone has one but damn...

He's got great physical skills but those don't help you in the NFL.

You need to have real NFL talent and not raw skills but refined skills.

He has second round NFL talent AT BEST but due to his ceiling, he will get reached for.

All I want to know is he doesn't pan out will you people have the guts to man up like SLJ and many others have on this forum that have hardons for certain things and been proven wrong? That is how you truly the respect of people here.

They will just text Rivera and say how it's all his fault that we didn't use him properly and everyone loves Cam and Rivera is a racist and blah blah blah

Why not?

He's as fast and as quick and is more of a threat throwing the ball.

To me that means it would be easier for him to make plays running the ball since they actually have to respect that aspect of his game.

The point is it's incredibly sad that his fanboys have to stoop this low to find a positive argument as to why Cam is better or maybe not even better but why he should be the pick.

Frankly this isn't a new argument, it has been part of the larger argument that i have made since day 1. It has been there the whole time. EWe just were talking about that particular part of the combine.

None of the other stuff I have said has changed.

Again why does every scout have him rated so high if he is a "second round talent"

Every scout? Really?

Kiper has him at 10, which sounds about right when all things are considered.

Scouts fall in love with physical attributes (Boller throwing from the 50 on his knees over the goalposts, etc) and more than that, analysts love it because it gives them something to talk about for months leading up to the draft.

With his ceiling, his question marks, and his current physical ability, I think he should go in the 13-17 range but based on needs, lack of depth at the position in this draft, etc, he will probably go higher.

One reason is they dont want to deal with the crap they get from player agents when they open their mouth. Deion Sanders was talking about it during the CB part of the combine. Once he says that he sees a player being just a safety in the NFL, Player agents call him and say why did he say that and bug him about it. Deion's comments might move him down to safety where they get paid alot less.

Whether that holds true for scouts, we dont know, but Deion did say that on the air yesterday.

you don't really believe gabbert can make all the same plays cam can with his feet do you?

IF Gabbert can throw better than Newton and can dissect a defense better, but Cam is a beast in the run game... I want Gabbert.

I don't want my QB facing anymore contact than needed.. if he can escape a few sacks (he does have better cone drill results, is a big body, and just as fast as Newton) then that's good enough for me.. I don't need my QB facing the amount of punishment Vick faced. Towards the end of the season, it was evident.

I want my guy to be able to get 5-7 yards if coverage allows it and the pocket collapses.. that is good enough for me.. My QB needs to be able to shred a defense through the air, first and foremost..

He has him 10 overall, not drafted 10th you know that. That is a far cry from a second round talent.

You can believe whatever you want but you know in your heart that Newton isn't even close to being what he should be talent wise to be considered a first round pick.

Like I said, the only reason he will go higher than that is because of his perceived ceiling and his raw athletic ability.

i am cool with Gabbert.,

I would say something about how Cam's body is better equipped than Vick's to handle the punishment over the course of a season.

But TRD would think I was making that my entire argument for Cam.

If Gabbert is such a great athlete, then why did he only average 2yds per rush attempt, and why do I keep seeing him on a D-lineman's highlight reel?

Look, he may be great and I have no problem with the Panthers drafting him, but to say he can make plays with his feet like Newton can is just ridiculous. Where are the highlights of defenders either missing him or bouncing off of him in the backfield, and Gabbert making a big play out of it? Show me.

Because his offensive scheme wasn't set up to be built round his running? As in he was throwing the ball...

Why did I get drawn back in :(

For the record Cam has better ability as a runner, but he isn't as athletic as people thought he was. I just can't see how his running translates effectively to the NFL unless he develops as a passer.

I think a lot of people have a hard time trusting Gabbert because his production wasn't even as good as Chase Daniels.

As far as the athleticism...I don't care how Gabbert did in the testing, he is not the same athlete that Cam is when you you put the pads on them.

Having said that though, if he's the Panthers pick, then I will be a Blaine Gabbert fan as long as he's here.

Did you say the same thing about Clausen? ;)

I know a LOT of people made a similar statement and yet quickly changed their opinion...

I for one said I would not be a Clausen fan and wasn't. But I will be a Newton/Gabbert fan, even though I pray we don't take either of them.

I like players that are best fitted for our team and will make us better. I don't think they are at the top of that list
