Newton: Shit just hit the Fan..

Gabbert can run. TO what degree is that important? A QB who can run really well developed that skill out of necessity and it becomes a crutch that takes over when his brain should. Running QBs don't last in the NFL.

About football intelligence--I think that is the biggest issue with cam. Not necessarily his smarts, but his decision making. He has done and said things that show maybe he didn't think it through. Thinking that could reflect attitude, and inflated self image, etc. In a game, he will have to make hundreds of split second decisions. I do not trust him to do that right now. Gabbert is athletic, but the difference between running and mobility is huge and not predicated on 40 yard dashes. Cam ran a lot more in college. That could mean that he couldn't read the coverages and took off.

Gabbert has his critics in this area too. Supposedly he locked onto or stared down WRs. However, I am impressed by the development and progress from Sophomore to Junior year. He got much better. He started checking down and threw to the TE more--something Rivera/Chud want to do.

Gabbert can run but not like Cam lets be honest. 40 time means little in terms of being able to make a guy miss or break tackles. I would also say the fact Cam is 6'6 250 pounds with 5% body fat will allow him to take a little more damage than your average running QB.

The second paragraph is a fair concern and we can go around in circles all day on that (I mean we have for 4 weeks :)).

Another knock I have seen on Gabbert (fairly or not) is his accuracy down the field. For the type of offense we are going to run you have to wonder that, if that is true, how well he fits with Chud.

I didn't say he did say that...you need to work your comprehension friend, the only reason anyone is saying gabbert is better is because they assume he's more accurate because he hasn't thrown.

I still don't see where he's hating on Cam. Everything he posted is a fact....

Actually.. I was talking about his massive immaturity and ego. It took Vick years to grow up. Honestly the best comparsions is Young. Carried himself the same way, same body composition same speed. I see him about having the same career.

I do not want the distractions Cam Newton will bring to an organization.

If you forget about everything other than the chaos that is between his ears, you can see why the #1 overall pick would not be a wise investment. His character, his intelligence, and his decision-making, which is a result of his poor character and questionable intelligence. He has tremendous athletic ability. Ooo and AAAh. But his athleticism is probably his biggest enemy as a QB. He has always been adored and admired. It gets his brain out of jams. He thinks he is great for reasons that make little difference in the NFL. Brady, Brees, Manning I and II, Rivers, Ben, etc. are not blazers who run over linebackers. They are calculating chess players, for the most part. Sure, some are athletic and buy time, but as a last resort, not the second resort.

So you simply believe that Cam is a dumbass and has no chance to learn an NFL system because he will be too busy stealing laptops, cheating on tests, and playing football for pay...oh wait.

Because he's black his attitude is like vick and it'll take him as long as vick?

Where did I say it had to do anything with his race? I was and am I strong believer in giving people chances to prove themselves.

You people compare him to Vince Young and Vick when it is positive. However, when people use the same people to compare him negatively it is about race. Why dont you people compare him to Mark Brunell, Steve Young, or Fran Tarkenton? I don't instantly assume your racist because you don't compare him to them even though they made their hay by running around much like Newton will. It shows that everyone thinks because a person is a certain race that they act a certain way. One of my personal most respected men in society period is Colin Powell.

Regardless, a person is judged on their character, personality, talents, and how they treat other people. The first 2 have major red flags already and he hasn't played a down in the NFL. I don't care if we had the most flaming, fruity, Green player on the field if he put the team before his own stardom and was the best player at that position. Newton has been given numerous opportunities to show that the team is more important than his own stardom and has failed horribly. I want to be an icon and an entertainer, I want to call my own plays.

You guys have your opinions on him and I have mine. I don't want him in BoA stadium other than playing 1 game on the opposite team.

What do you mean? There was a camera crew there. It is called PR. If I heard he volunteered anomymously, etc. I would be touched.

I played college ball. We all did stuff like that. Part of the deal.

The principal say that it was unsolicited and not part of any football program. he did this totally on his own starting before the football season even began and anyone even knew who Cam Newton was.

The funny thing is how all the Cam lovers told us he'd be able to run around and make plays and use his superior athleticism while he developed the actual skill he needs to play in the NFL but now that Gabba tested out as equally athletic they are saying things like "Well he's got better vision" or "He breaks more tackles" because those things can't be measured.

They have lost argument after argument pertaining to facts with Cam and no longer have his athleticism to fall back on.

Pretty soon it will be that he has the lowest % of body fat so we should definitely draft him.

For someone who claims to have seen film on all these guys it would be pretty clear in regards to his ability to make plays in the open field. Are you admitting you haven't watched film??

How does a guy that can't do those things run for 1400 yards in a major conference??

You said film was more important than measurables right?? Are you changing that line of thinking now?? I'm confused

I think I have been pretty fair in this whole thing. I have a guy I want to pick and I defend him but i try to do it with being honest and fair. I don't think I have really attacked any other prospect. So why the beef??

Pretty wide brush you are painting with at this point. Maybe you should be more accurate with 1 or 2 posters said.......................

What Gabbert did at the combine in regards to his athletic ability is answer a few questions and actually raise his stock in a lot of folks minds including my own. If he had great interviews as reported, did well on the wonderlic (don't know yet) and impressed some coaches and GMs, then he should be in the conversation as well. All of that did nothing to diminish Newton and his viability as a high draft pick but it did improve his draft position into a top 5 pick.

I would like the Panthers to bring both Newton and Gabbert in and run some drills with them which are unrehearsed so neither can plan for them. And bring out plays we will run and see how they grasp the complexity.'

Whoever does better should be our guy for the number 1 pick if we are going to draft a QB.

I readily admit that athletically both Locker and Gabbert impressed me with their measurables. Don't really know about interviews, personal talks or the chalk talks. Fromwhat I have read or heard ,Locker did himself the biggest favor.
