Talent wise???? I think you used the wrong word here. As any scout would have told you newton is among the most "talented" players in the draft. Now if you would have made that statement about accuracy i wouldn't have disagreed.

The talent is there. Just about every analyst out there is saying that, including Mayock.

What we really disagree on, is that you don't think Cam is smart enough or is willing to work hard enough to learn the NFL game, and I believe he is and he will. The only other question is where he will do it?

I've never said that.

And I think both of you are confusing raw ability and tools with real NFL talent

Pretty simple if you think about it.

Everyone knew that Cam knew his dad was asking for money for him to attend thier school. However, the NCAA wanted nothing to do with TCU in the National Championship game. So they turned a blind eye to Cam's recruiting issues and let him play out the year. In 6 months to a year Auburn will be sanctioned and lose the title.

That scenario is the best scenario for the NCAA, Auburn, and Oregon. It was way too risky to allow TCU into the title game and them have a chance to win it. This way they were shut out of it. Having Oregon in the game was bad enough, letting TCU in would have stopped the hearts of stodgy old fat men everywhere.

As far as Cam taking the money, it wouldn't affect his draft status. Unless he sat down with 32 NFL FO's, looked them right in the eye and lied to them about it. That would pretty much blow up his draft status. That is if any of this is true or is verified before the draft.

Colleges sometimes take advantage of the disadvantaged backgrounds of some of their most talented players. This is an old story.

No he doesn't come from a millionaire family like Luck does and if they took the money God Bless them. Luck could stay and get his Masters if the Panthers pick #1 again next year he doesn't need the money.

Players like Cam are different. They may have to become the bread winners for their families. Some of you guys are hating the guy for the wrong reasons. Somebody who is an excellent player and leader for his team and soon for his family. Cecil won't be in the drivers seat.

Good Luck Cam!

The more I see the venom you guys spew at this kid the more I'm on his side, apparently you're silver spoons and high morals prevent you from making such mistakes for need of money.

As a matter of fact my parents did have a pretty big say as to where I went to college. They wanted me to go to a place that they felt was safe, affordable and provided a very good education. After visiting several colleges, and talking with people at all of those places, they told me where they felt most comfortable with me being at. I value my parents opinion, so I considered that greatly when I finally decided on the school I attended.

Now, if you were the football coach at a division 1 football program, and you have several players that all pass up entering the NFL draft early even though they would be early round draft picks, wouldn't you question their motives? Would you question how/why those same players are all of a sudden able to go on trips to across the country not long after they decided to return to school? Would you question where/how they can afford expensive jewelry and dinners?

(And every last one of those things was posted on your players twitter and facebook accounts, so not knowing really isn't an acceptable answer.)

It sounds like you are very aware of the reasons your parents wanted you to go to school where you did. They are all very good reasons and they seem to have had you best interests at heart. I would bet that you would also be aware if your parents did not have your best interest at heart and were motivated by greed. So I will mark you down as a yes for the question. It also sounds like you had a choice of where you decided to go to school and your parents did not decide for you. Thats the difference between good parents (like yours) and greedy parents looking to cheat the system (like Cam's).

As far as your obsession with the Tar Heels, I will never defend a player or coach that is found to have been breaking NCAA rules. If there is proof that Butch has done anything to purposefully break NCAA rules I will be the first to ask for his dismissal.

What I don't get is why you are so focused on UNC when the topic is Cam Newton. I don't see how UNC has any thing to do with Cam Newton and if he is worthy of the Panthers number one pick. I personally feel that he is not and that does not have anything to do with UNC.

Are you telling me that athletes with raw physical ability aren't capable of maximizing that ability by studying their craft and performing lots and lots of practice reps?

Personally, I don't think he's as raw as you make him out to be in the first place. You can already see that Cam learned a lot in a short period of time. Try watching some of his Blinn College film and then watch the Auburn film. There is a world of difference.
