D-Will a UFA

What is he supposed to say? "Get me the hell out of here" or perhaps "I will go to the highest bidder"?

99% of the free agents who have left their teams in the NFL at some point say they want to stay put.

You're right for the most part. But Moose and Pep didn't say "I want to be back here." They made it pretty clear they were looking elsewhere.

And DW has always struck me as a different kind of guy, I don't think he's strictly motivated by money.

It's laughable really. The Panthers are the only team in the league I can think of that lets their best players walk and gets nothing in return. More proof that Hurney is just a numbers guy. This team needs a football guy in the front office.

I agree.

If Hurney flubs this draft like he did last year's, I hope someone starts a campaign to get his ass out of here like we saw with Fox.

Unless your name is Julius Peppers.

I know it may be hard to comprehend by some (not necessarily you)...but his loyalties might have been with Fox, not the Panthers. And now maybe he will take the money and run. I hope that's not true and he is a team player and wants to be here no matter who is coaching or the QB, kind of like some fans. I do know I will be glad when the sun comes up...

Understood, but I speak from chatting directly with the man on his doubletrouble3428.com site (no, I'm not trying to sell memberships to anyone)... he's said he REALLY wants to stay and he's eagerly awaiting the opportunity to talk contract extension with the Panthers, but he has been told nothing will be discussed until the new CBA is reached.

D-Will has said he wants to be a Panther and I imagine the front office will do their best to oblige him.

Saying otherwise would be burning bridges. The front office will do their best to sign Charles Johnson, Ryan Kalil (long-term deal), Thomas Davis, even Dante Rosario before thinking about bidding on DW.

People, these players are coached in dealing with the press. If you take everything you read at face value, then you will be misled a lot.

Ask him how much less is he willing to take to stay here. The fact that we have 3 backs that can run on the payroll right now says to me that he is a luxury. Another team without a RB would pay him much more.

This assumes that FA will begin immediately upon a new CBA being signed... which may not be the case.

Yep.

I expected the RFA tenders would be worthless once the CBA was reached, so this is no surprise.

I disagree that it can be assumed he's gone.

Looks like when the CBA is reached, it will allow RFA to only be applied to third year players. This means D-Will's tender is void, and that he has played his last game in Carolina.

Guess trading him last season would have been a great move after all, aye?

He'll be resigned here IMO.

lol at Zod already saying goodbye to D-Will, you sound no better than the people who were claiming there was no way Peppers was leaving. We don't know when there will even be a CBA reached, much less what free agency will look like

I'm not saying D-Will is definitely going to be a Panther next time jerseys are put on, but I'm not claiming its not still a possibility

D-Will is our best back.

Stewart-Good compliment to Williams not a every down back because of injuries

Goodson-nice 3rd string, would be better for slot, fumbles too often

sutton-productive but not a starter

Williams has said he wants to stay a panther therefore he will be a Panther, Hurnry can't be that stupid. Can he?

Keeping Dwill is like me having a fivesome with Scarlett Johansson, Brooklyn Decker, Anne Hathaway, Rachael McAdams, and Isla Fisher. Even if Scarlett backs out it's still pretty fuging awesome.

I could ask, but I doubt he will answer... I think Stewart is the only other back on the roster right now that's demonstrated he can perform at the same level as DeAngelo and he's injury prone, so I don't see him as a luxury.
