Greg McElroy's Incredible Wonderlic Score

While Auburn QB Cam Newton was showing himself off as an athlete at the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday, a rival quarterback proved he has a quick mind.

Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy, who led the Crimson Tide to the national championship a year before Newton did it with the Tigers, aced his Wonderlic test, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The exam is used to test players' mental aptitude, and McElroy correctly answered 48 of the 50 questions correctly in the 12-minute allotted timeframe.

(AP Photo) The fact McElroy, unable to participate in Sunday's on-field workout because of an undisclosed injury to his throwing hand, tested so well should not be a surprise because he was a Rhodes Scholar finalist.

I've always liked McElroy. He comes from a run first offense, has experience with his hands under center. Can make all the throws, a leader, energetic, and apparently he's very intelligent. I wouldn't take him at #1 of course, but whoever is in position to get him will probably come away with a steal. But that's just my opinion.

I remember hearing him breakdown the national championship and he sounded better than pretty much anyone on tv or radio in his analysis. He's got everything you could want in the mental department. Unfortunately that part of the QB game seems to matter less and less when it comes to drafting.

Grits changes pretty often, sometimes they are superhot and sometimes just pretty hot.

For some reason the current signature chick looks funny to me because she has the cup between her legs.

But don't panic there will be more coming I'm sure.

Understood, my point what that a high Wonderlic score doesn't mean jack when it comes to playing QB in the NFL.

I think saying "it doesn't mean jack" might be inaccurate. saying that it is not all that matters might be much more accurate.
