Schefter on No.1 Pick

Dareus had his fingers taped, Sapp asked him why and his answer was "it's game time", love that answer.

He also recounted how he finished the 2nd half of a game with a high ankle sprain this past year because they were losing and he didn't want to abandon the young guys on his defense who were looking down at halftime because he was an upperclassman who had been put in a leadership role on the team... Sapp was astounded that he could finish a game and play through the rest of the year with the kind of high ankle sprain he had.

Put this in the wrong thread... sorry.

He is right.

There is a pretty big caveat in there though. IF they think there is a great QB in this draft they will select him.

Now JOAT and some others don't think there is. I do.

But ultimately it doesn't matter what we think. It is going to come down to Hurney and Rivera and what they think.

I other words Shefter believes as I do that we will reach in some people's eye for a QB if we feel he can be that guy.

It won't be as it has been it past years were we went BPA.

I would lay a lot of money on QB or DT as the pick.

Agreed. Gabbert will go #1 Overall. I heard he did very well on the wonderlic, and he absolutely blew teams away with his individual team interviews at the combine. His stock went way up at the combine, and it will go up even more when he throw's at his pro day. He has a better arm than Cam Newton.. that's a fact. His arm is second to Ryan Mallett.

Accuracy maybe

Strength ? Not even close.

Bradford was pretty much a no-brainer for the Rams... there was talk about Suh but most people knew Bradford would be the guy.

That's just not true. Bradford hadn't played in a year because of a shoulder injury and Suh was coming off one of the most dominant displays by a defensive player in a single college season. It was only at around this time last year people started talking about him at no.1.

What about for a vertical passing game?

He's up and down in that area. Some games it seemed to me he was really clicking on his deep ball and was a danger to strike anywhere on the field. Other times, it seemed like he just wasn't able to connect. I think he has the ability to do it. But if there weren't questions in areas like this, it wouldn't be a question on if we should take him at all. :P

I think his overall accuracy is good but the level of anticipation he seems capable of and the ability to read defenses at the snap seems to be a bit of a better fit for a quick mid range passing attack rather than a playaction deep passing game.
