Anquan Boldin?

We don't need him.

If he's pissed about not getting targeted in Arizona, how do you think he'd fit in over here in a run first offense with Steve Smith as our first receiver?

Not to mention we just don't need receiver help right now. He's a tremendous athlete, but I'd be pretty pissed if we paid for Boldin to come in when we have so many other needs on defense right now.

He doesn't want out of Arizona because of not being targeted. He wants out because he has a terrible contract and they promised him they would redo it a little while back and didn't. This is why Fitz said he would talk about renegotiating his contract so that they could give Boldin what he was promised.

looks like this has already been said, should've read the 2nd page before responding to the one of the first page... my bad

I'd like to think we should attempt to get Q for the FUTURE. Moose is old as dirt and won't be around much longer, Jake isn't a top tier QB and won't be around much longer, and who knows if we can afford both D-Lo and Stewart forever. I know "believe in now" is thrown around a lot, then again "build through the draft" is too. All I know is that having Smith and Boldin (cap issues aside) for the next 2-4 years can only help us. I understand "we don't need that right now"...but we sure as hell may need a talent like that two seasons from now when Moose can't even outrun Gross.

He wasn't pissed about "not getting targeted," whatsoever.

My bad.

But it still stands the guy should easily be some team's number one receiver. Here he would be a number two, maybe a number three.

Muhsin Muhammad is no where near as talented a receiver Boldin, but it could be argued he is as good a number two receiver as you could ask for in our system.

Just read on Rotoworld that the price is going to be a 1st and a 3rd for the Giants and the Eagles to acquire Anquan Boldin. The guy will be 29 next season and has taken a ton of punishment at Arizona. I would expect if he gets that price then Pep should get more than that at the position he plays...Productive 4-3 DE are harder to come by than productive WRs.

We could have Fitgerald at #2, Boldin in the slot, and Andre Johnson in there on 4 man shotgun packages, and Jake will STILL only throw to Steve Smith in quadruple coverage. So it doesn't really matter.

Instead of Boldin the FO should consider signing one of the Cards DBs and converting him to WR. Jake already seems to have a good chemistry with those guys

Now come on, really do you think Jake wouldnt look his way? I know Jake does not look for more than one receiver per play unless he has plenty of time, but he would get him the ball. I know all you guys think its cute to bash Jake this bad, but it is a lil absurd. Yes that last game made me want him fired too, but Moose did have 68 balls caught this year which isnt bad for a number 2 in a run offense so please stop the same ole same ole talk everyone is spewing. Boldin is not coming here, the Panthers don't make moves like that, unfortunately but I would be for it except our defense needs some help.

Thank you

Cardinals are saying they won't trade him, and realistically he doesn't have the leverage to force them to.

Only way I could see this happening is a Peppers for Boldin swap, and I'm not sure I see that happening (nor am I sure I'd want it as a straight swap).

Arizona is going to a 3-4 and is one place peppers spends much of the offseason so I figure he would be all for the deal. Not sure where Cardinal management is or whether we would trade him to an NFC team. Still if we could get Boldin and perhaps a 2 or 3 rounder for Peppers I would probably do it. Boldin is better than any receiver we could get in the draft and would be one of the final pieces needed on offense. Then we can use our picks to get some defensive guys for the line. Jenkins was surely a good second round pick for us a few years ago.

Think about this. If Smith goes down who do we have ?????

We have the guy who racked up a career-high 1,405 yards last time Steve Smith went down.

He didn’t do horribly this year, either.

Sure, Moose is older and lacks the speed to be a number one receiver, but I think Jarrett could step up and I’m a huge fan of Hackett. I hope he stays healthy.

Ryne was coming into his own, too.

There is no good way to get Anquan Boldin on this team. To tell you the truth I don't want to have to pass the ball as much as Steve + Anquan would want the ball. We have two great running backs a very good Oline and a great WR...pound the ball. Nobody was able to stop it until Arizona and the only reason they stopped it is because we had to go away from it after Jake threw 1000 INTs.
