JaMarcus Russell and Alex Smith killed it at their combines...

Mike Vick says hello.

Stupid comparison.

Vick and Newton are nothing alike. Nothing.

Vick got away with being a "running" QB because he had a running skill set more akin to a RB or a small WR than a TE.

Will Cam be able to run in the NFL? Yeah, some. Not much though. He might have gotten away with truckin' dudes in college but he won't in the NFL. If Cam can't learn to throw better then he is useless.

Every big bodied QB that is known as a threat to run in the NFL has one thing in common. They are guys that are great passers that can extend a play until there is room to run. None of them are great runners that throw the ball upfield on one read or tuck it.

You can't teach accuracy, you can refine it, but you can't teach it.

Not saying Cam will never be any good but at this point it would be a massive reach to take a player #1 overall with this much of a learning curve.

Dareus #1.

Yet Mr. Scot was also talking about how he believes and how the Panthers believe the combine isn't important, so remember that if you see him reference Cam's supposedly poor performance as a reason not to take him.

Anyone who uses the combine solely to suggest not taking someone is lacking intelligence IMO

Hahaha at Yo Gabba derailing your interest in the team. Not laughing at you on that, but it's just funny. Haha. Personally, I'm not on the Cam train (yet) but I'm not ruling him out as a possibility. He has the excitement factor and freakish athletic ability, so I'd be all about it if the FO chose him. All I ever really root for during our drafts though is that we don't pull a Minnesota and surpass the draft time! Give me Cam or PP or Fairley or Green or whoever. Our team will be fine next year with the new staff, and any of these players are due cause for excitement.

While guys like Tom Brady and Drew Brees were terrible. So before you count Cam out at #1, let's remember to keep things in perspective here:

JaMarcus Russell combine article: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft07/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=2777414 (Russell makes a big impression)

Alex Smith combine/workout article: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-proday031605 (Smith's performance is only the latest in what has become consistent – and predictable – leapfrogging since the NFL's February combine in Indianapolis last month)

Tom Brady combine article: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/03/sports/football/03draft.html (Mentions how underwhelming Brady was at the combine and how explosive some guy named Giovanni Carmazzi was and how he leaped up people's boards after his combine)

Drew Brees combine article:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1022419/6/index.htm (Mentions how Brees completed 11/20 passes similar to how Newton completed 11/21)

You have actual NFL players all over Twitter today commenting on how unimportant the combine really is. So please people, before you bury Cam, let's keep things in perspective.

Another Newton Nuthugger in the flesh.

You were out here a few weeks ago using Newtons exhibition to the media as a reason why we should take him #1....now you discount a bad performance.

Pathetic.

I don't care how particular past players did at the combine. Know why?

I've been saying all along that tape means more than workouts. And guess what? So have the Panthers.

Cam Newton may have hurt his draft stock a little, or it may not have mattered. What matters most is the interview process... and that's something we have heard almost nothing about.

Also, I want to know the wonderlic scores.
