Cam gets defensive in an interview

Why is it hard to believe that he isn't perfect? People make mistakes. Hell, he referred to himself in third person at the combine. That uh, had to have been something he knew not to have done, too. It's not like it's going to scare us away but yeah.

There's a very good chance it's real. As to why it was leaked? Who knows. Maybe one person told another who told another who blabbed to Schefter. I don't think it is "Smoke screen" though.

As I said before, we're all talking about it aren't we? That means the story's getting views! That's reason enough to leak it. The media's there too.

He also explained the stolen laptop at Florida. Whereas Mallett barked at reporters for asking tough questions, Newton addressed everything, calmly and confidently.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post called Newton "respectful, intelligent and engaging." Klis added, "[Newton] is no JaMarcus Russell or Vince Young, another athletic quarterback who was a poor interview."

It is not impossible to stay undecided relating to the quarterbacks, but I guarantee you that people on both sides, particularly the ones that really want the dudes, will be convinced you are either for or against the player. :P

Mav I have admired you perseverance. You have come very close to the "Nut Huggers" and I have seen you at times flirt with the "Haters". But somehow you have stayed in the middle.

That was a very middle of the road, nuanced, objective post with some good logic and reasoning.

That won't cut it here.

First rule is be irrational. Facts get in the way of good debate. It is perfectly acceptable to relegate you entire argument to, "Yeah. Well you're a fuggin idiot." And that is an acceptable counterpoint here.

Second, with Cam Newton you can't play the middle of the road. There are two factions here. The "Nut Huggers" who are pro Cam, and the "Haters" who are anti Cam.

It is a bitter feud and you have to take a side. I am a "Nut Hugger" and I politely ask for you to come join our side of the fight. There are some rough days when Cam decides to talk in the third person and calls himself an icon and we have to explain that it is "endearing" and shows a "competitive edge" which we know is :icon_bs:. But we do it bc we can't give ground to the "Haters".

If you decide to join the "Haters" :( You have to make a commitment that Cam is already a guaranteed bust, a convict, ego maniac, that eats small children. He has too many questions, red flags, and daddy issues.

If you want to talk about Cam you have to join one of us. You think, "I can stay objective." I thought the same thing. Within two weeks Jackofalltrades, The real deal, MHS, and Scot from the "Haters" forced me to fully entrench myself in the "Nut Huggers" brigade.

I don't know exactly how it happened but now I just embrace it.

You really believe everything you write, don't you? I am not a hater, I am a realist. Wow. Been trying to tell you that. Is anything that is happening to Cam's hype machine right now hitting home in any way? Perhaps you should check the papers of the scholars in your camp before lame attempts to recruit newbies and discredit those who want the panthers pick to have character .

who is trying to say that he is perfect. the so called "nut huggers" have simply been couterpointing negative comments made with ones that aren't so negative. for the most part everyone who is on his bandwagon have admitted that there are some risks involved and there is some growth that needs to take place. laugh if you want, but they have been a good bit more balanced in the way they talk about cam than those who come into every thread and say things like, "there is no way we should draft cam" and "there are no franchise QBs in this draft" and things like that. we are open to other guys going at #1. can't say the same thing for the ones that get refered to as haters.

btw...i'm on 4 bandwagons right now as in there are 4 i would be completely cool with being the first pick, though newton is my favorite.

i'd be completely happy with newton, fairley, peterson, or green. overall i have faith that they will take the right person.
