Fairley 2 inches shorter 9 pounds lighter...

It's not that big of a deal. But if you show up 6'3 when you were suppose to be 6'5 and looked at as a titan, only to come out average? I have to think you'd lose some luster and momentum. If any of the other prospects were looking at showed up 2 inches shorter it'd be a much bigger deal.

What if green showed up 6'2,cam 6'3, and peterson 5'11? While the players still show up great on game film, first impressions are huge. Like one of the scouts was saying when looking at the quarterbacks for the first time at the combine,Newton stood out because of his massive size at first glance.

Not to make this about newton, just thought it was a intresting topic.

About a month ago, Fairley was clearly #1 on the majority of mock drafts. Now you have Newton and others budging him out with Fairley even being knocked down to #2 on the DT boards on many sites.

Fairley was 1 in a lot of mock drafts and still is, but the nature of drafting and mock drafting is to keep some fluidity, especially when there is a universal agreement that there is no clear cut #1.

I willl say that the BCS Championship inflated his stock and Dareus probably got lost in some of that, but I haven't seen any real evidence of Fairley's stock sliding.

Instead of starting yet another thread i figured i would use this one to state my opinion on Nick. I feel this DT class is deep. There was a record amount of Dlineman at the combine this year. Lucky for us we need two interior dlineman. But yeah we should overpay and reach for a guy with the first overall. Failey is not even the top guy as far as i am concerned. Dareus or yes Marvin Austin fit the bill. So when there is depth there whats the point in reaching and looking over guys like Cam, Patrick Peterson or AJ Green? Just saying drafting for NEED over talent with the first is stoopid. So until further notice my two scenarios i would like to see are...

1. Patrick Peterson, 3rd we have several choices like Jerrelle Powe, Jarvis Jenkins, Jurrell Casey, or Allen Bailey then with the compensatory draft pick Sione Fua, Ian Williams, or Kenrick Ellis who all could be available at the end of the third and pair well with the other pick.

OR.

2. AJ Green, 3rd top corner then bottom of third and in fourth try and get some DT's there.

Regardless a DT with the first is silly. DT's usually take time to get up to NFL speed. SUH is a special player, Nick is not. There will be no rookie year ProBowl for Nick. BUT AJ Green or PP have the skills to make immediate impact.
