I still want to trade down.

Not necessarily, Clausen doesn't have to be the future to no draft QB this year. There's a draft next year, Vet could be the guy for a while. There are more than just two options here. (draft QB and Clausen)

It's not as if QB's will cease to exist or suddenly decline after this offseason.

See that is my point. Odds are to get #1 this year it will cost a teams #1 this year and next. Ok so say we draft say 12th - 15th next year. We couple that with the 2nd first rounder we have and we can move up to take who we want. and who says there wont be BETTER QB's next year.

I hate to break it to people, many teams will be winning superbowls without Cam Newton on their roster. I know this my boy Landry Jones is coming out next year most likely and if he keeps improving the way he has, this kid is most definitely someone we need to consider if we haven't drafted a QB already.

I say trade down, upgrade the Defense immediately, bring in a vet somehow to take over, stock up some draft picks for next year and take a QB then

Loser mentality. Scared.

Who is scared? Loser mentality = thinking madden moves makes for a winning team. When you have a team with several needs then getting as many picks as possible is the best move. We are that team. Trade down 3-5 spots, still get a stud on Defense. We should have two 2nd round picks by trading down, Address TE, Defense and or WR.

Take a QB next year. Its not a big deal.

So you want to trade for more draft picks this year, just so you can trade them away next year for a QB that may or may not even be there? What the hell kind of logic is that?

Since the Bills are my other team I can tell you Nix isn't huge on moving up or down but he also has said this year he can see more movement than normal. If Cam Newton impresses the hell out of him in the interview and on the chalk board and Ralph Wilson keeps pushing hard for a QB, yeah I can see them moving up.

It makes sense for them. They can get a stud Defensive player in the 2nd, Shawne merriman is looking great in rehab, that is instant pass rush upgrade. they have Ryan Fitz that is going to be a good starter while Cam Develops so they would be a good choice to move up.

This franchise has been passing on QB's in the first round for how many years now??? So you, if Cam can be a franchise guy, want to pass on him to maybe take a QB in the 1st Round next year who will also could just as easily be a bust. Lets just keep passing on QB's, that has worked out real well for this franchise.

It makes more sense to get your franchise QB now, bring in a Vet to let him and Clausen develop. Then work on upgrading your defense in free agency and your #1 next season.

Yeah I know but this TEAM isn't ready for a rookie QB to come in here and try to win. This isn't Pittsburgh. I know about Cam's talent but bottom line you must be able to take 3, 5, and 7 step drops from under center in this league that will never change. Reading defenses will never change.

You can take a kid and develop him IF you have a decent starter to begin with, and we don't right now unless our new OC thinks Moore can become something. Newton's best shot at succeeding is going to a team that has a vet in place and is a year or so from making a run. That Pittsburgh team Big Ben won as a rookie on could have made the AFC Championship game with a trained monkey throwing poo. There hasn't been a more perfect situation for a QB to walk into.

Trading down is the best scenario for this team. I think Jerruh Jones is full of poo but hey if he wants to move up to #1, lets reverse that hershel walker trade on his ass and build a superbowl winner here.

you can look in our own division and see a team that was predicted to be complete poo the season they drafted a rookie QB to start......and they made the postseason.,

In the same division you can find a team that was predicted to look like poo for a few years who drafted a rookie and they were a winning club in season 2 of the new QBs career.

Need a QB. You don't have to be built like the Steelers to draft a QB and insert him. Look at Atlanta and Tampa. Both did much better than expected when they got a new coach and that coach went out and drafted his own QB. Carolina needs to follow what Atl and Tampa have done. New coach. New QB. Move forward.

Ok a point that needs to finally be accepted here, there is NO proof what so ever that Cam Newton will EVER be an eliete/ Franchise QB in this league. Every QB has more fleas than not with this draft class.

IMHO any team spending a high pick on any of these guys is taking a more than normal risk. Every QB is a risk, Bradford, Sanchez, Ryan, Flacco, Stafford. But this crop has more bust potential than any class I have seen in a long long time.

The only reason Cam is getting this much hype is Andrew Luck stayed in School and he is a physical talent that is rare for a QB. I would much take a risk on a QB that has done it 2-3 years at the D1 level, not been in the system he was in in College and doesn't have as many flags character wise.

Do you pass on a franchise QB if he is there with #1? No, but I don't see Brandford, Manning (either one), Matt Ryan, Mathew Stafford etal sitting there for us to take. Yeah it sucks, it sucks royal ass to have the #1 pick and all the QB's have this many questions. It sucks ass Luck said fug you to the NFL this year, but it is what it is and you deal with the hand delt.

I would much rather see this franchise wait than reach. If we take newton and he is a bust, this franchise is set back at least 5-7 more years. Cam Newton to me is not worth that risk. If he can become a franchise guy and we press him onto the field sooner than later with this team, you run the risk of ruining him. I want to see us trade down, gather more picks and get the TEAM ready for its franchise QB that we can most likely get next year.

And both freeman and Ryan were more prepared prospects and more closely to a guarantee than any of these QB's. You NEVER reach out of need, that is how franchises fail.

You need a partner, just saying trade down is really incomplete. It all depends on what type of deal you can get. Sure if you can get a high 1st, 2nd and a 1st next year then that's obviously better than any specific player you could get at #1 overall. But if that's such an obvious win for us then look at it from the other teams perspective, why would they then trade up?

"Trading down is the best scenario for this team." OK, your best offer is a 2nd rounder and a 2012 4th rounder, still the best scenario to trade down?

Depends. Can we trade down the 2nd rounder and the 2012 4th for a 5th and two 2012 6th round picks?
