According to reports this morning, if coaches were to give players a playbook or any contact with them after the CBA expires the penalties are steep if found. Heavy fines on the coach, multiple draft picks, and more penalties against the franchise unlike anything ever seen before.

Playbooks normally arent totally shaped until after the draft and FA for obvious reasons. Knowing what people can run and how to utilize the new players. Football will be really sloppy if there is no preseason and training camp for atleast the first month if we play this year.

Slightly off topic but according to the norv turner playbook .. there are a butt ton of plays where the 1 and 2 runningback are on the field at the same time .. i.e d-will and j-stew .. that could be fun .. also to note its only while in the shotgun

Did Fox ever manage to get them both on the field at the same time? Seems like a really obvious idea to me, especially considering Clausen loved to check down.

it will also make things near impossible for teams w/ new coaches and schemes and plays yet to be installed.

This is all why not having Jimmy or Matt as a starter is key. You need a guy that can be comfortable with a new playbook ASAP. Or just go the rookie route and struggle. I don't like that idea. Then again, Jason Campbell sucked as a vet with a new playbook so many years in a row.

Good question, something I'd like to know as well. But I would hope the players would know it well enough that they can reference the play if they are watching it etc.

Wondering of the 2010 playbook is available to the new coaches. Might help them evaluate last year's O.
