Cowboys interested in Cam Newton??

I would kinda doubt, Jerry would trade Romo for Cam. I doubt he wants to go into next year with a rookie QB. He likely hopes that Newton falls to him, can sit behind Romo for two years ala Rogers and then take over. However, with Cam's star rising, I don't think he lasts till number nine. Also, Cam would have to really rocket up the charts for Jones to be willing to jump to number one (and the ransom it would take) and take him, when Romo still has a few years left on his tires. If Cam starts looking that good, I think Panthers will take him.

Also how hasn't Romo succeeded? The guy has put up pro bowl stats his last three full seasons. Hell, he threw more touchdowns last season in 6 games than EVERY Panthers QB combined.

If you're gonna judge him based off post-season failures, fine. You could use the same argument against Peyton Manning considering Manning fails in the playoffs pretty much every season.

Look, we all hate Dallas. The media overhypes them every season. That doesn't change Romo's stellar stats the last several seasons.

Cam Newton would be the player that gets them over the hump in the playoffs. That's obviously why they need to dump Romo that bum.

haha, some of the things being said in this thread are nuts.

no way, no fuging way that a team buys into some guy who played one year of college to the point where they trade away a pro bowl quarterback to get him or jettison said quarterback to the curb to make way for someone so untested.

also I'd love to take Romo off their hands if they wanted Newton that bad. lol.

Of course Romo puts up pro bowl numbers...he attempts more passes than even Drew Brees, who does run a WCO, BTW. That in itself is ridiculous for a team with a massive O-line and 3 very good RB's.

Romo Attempted 550 passes in 2009, which was about the 2nd most in the league, but his numbers were 8th best in the league, behind some guys with a lot fewer attempts. In other words, stats can be deceiving, and that star will get guys in the pro bowl, whether they really deserve it or not.

so because Romo threw more passes than one of THE best quarterbacks in the game who was having one of his best seasons on his way to a Superbowl, he's not a Pro Bowl quarterback??

Oh, btw. Brees played in 15 games last year and threw 514 passes.

Guess how many he would have had if he'd played in 16? Just about as many as Romo.

edit: why are you saying he had the 8th best numbers? How are you calculating that? QB Rating alone?

Romo was the 8th ranked QB in 09...look it up. My point is that QB's who throw that much always put up big numbers unless they are just downright putrid. Drew Brees throws more screens and swing passes than Cam ever did in college, so why is Cam being castrated for it, while Brees, Romo, and Bradford are the greatest of all time for completing a bunch of 5yd passes and letting the RB's a WR's get all of the yardage? There seems to be a double standard here.

Jeez now Cam is better than Brees too?

All the hate you are putting on Romo? They went 11-5 that year. All those pass attempts are really what made him a good QB

In 2009, Romo had some really good numbers.

5th in total passes thrown (with only 9 interceptions, thats really good).

11th in completion percentage

4th in yard per completion

4th in yardage total

8th in rating.

If a Panthers QB put up those kind of number, that would probably be among the top 2 alltime for us.

Would love to see Romo in a Panthers uniform, but it ain't gonna happen.
