Jacksonville is closer to winning than Carolina is. the Jaguars have a strong running game, good defense and if healthy have one good pass rusher and lack another one, i just cant see Edwards coming here. first off, they dont need a DE unless they dont re-sign Johnson and second, i think he goes to a team like Jacksonville, BUT there are other teams i could see him in like Philly and even Denver.

That makes even less sense.

Jags were 26th in ypg we were 18th. Points matter more you say? We were better than them at that too(barely).

The jags have one good pass rusher but lack another one? Sound familiar? Charles Johnson anyone?

QB situation more stable for winning now? If Garrard stays.

As for run game I'd put ours against anybody else's. It's pretty obvious what made it go from top 3 the last 2 years to mediocre.

i don't think he'll be getting anywhere near the payday he feels he should be getting..at least not here.

i'm sure they have a couple other CB FAs they are interested in. it would be crazy to thihnk they haven't at least looked into asomugha. there's also a couple FA CBs from baltimore that would be an upgrade like chris carr and josh wilson. they won't be keeping both of these guys since they drafted jimmy smith.

I was going to put Wilson on my list. Both played well last year.

Coefield or Mebane

Eric Wright or Antonio Cromartie

One of the marquee WRS (either Rice, Smith, Holmes, Edwards Simms Walker or Jackson)

Eric Weddle

Vertern QB (my preference is McNabb if he gets released but Hasselbeck would be great as well)

That's bullsh1t man Jackonsville is the most irrelevant team in the NFL. Perhaps in the history of the sport. Hell the Lions are bigger losers then they are but at least they get people to watch their games.

They really don't edge us out in anything except maybe DT.

Jacksonville could go 16-0 and the Colts would still win the NFC South and advance... because no one cares about Jacksonville. The best move they made in 10 years was upgrading their ass uniforms.

how???? the panthers had the number one overall freaking pick and have the toughest schedule in the NFL, the Jaguars were a playoff contender until the end of the year. 2nd Edwards wants to start, Carolina has good pass rushers in Johnson and Greg Hardy. plus Brayton and Brown will likely rotate and the QB situation in Jacksonville isnt bad. Garrard can go and Gabbert is the future, but the point is, Edwards is NOT a need. People are acting like the pass rush stunk and DE is a need, it really isnt. the needs are at CB, DT and WR (especially if Smith leaves), but like i wrote (if you havent read) Jacksonville is one idea. others are Chicago (help out Peppers) and Denver.

and win-loss record, didnt the panthers have the number one pick???? Add to it, the Jaguars have a QB in Garrard who can groom Gabbert in and tell me how the panthers tight end is better than Lewis is???? the panthers have a better running game (duh) and better linebackers and pass rushers, but the Jaguars are a team who did compete for the playoff spot last year.

Todd Collins is absolutely terrible. I'd take Matt Hasselbeck over anyone at this point in time because he can play at a high level.

we arent getting Hasselbeck, he will either be a Seahawk or Titan, i dont think he will come here because Newton is likely going to start really early, as soon as week 5. Locker likely wont start for a while.

Pete Carroll said that Whitehurst is the future if Hasselbeck isn't resigned so they're ready to move on. What makes you sure he wants to go to Tennessee?

i fully believe that Hasselbeck wants to go to a team where he will start likely all year. if Carroll thinks Whitehurst is the future, he needs to look again. Locker isnt ready to start yet, many people said that and i think the titans want to groom him slowly.

DE isn't really THAT strong. Hardy is promising but he's not a sure thing, on top of that he's been beaten up in the past. Brown is more bust than boom. Brayton is only decent. Norwood is a man without a set position.

Hardy's impact is overrated. People are really getting ahead of themselves naming him starter and assuming he's going to do well.

Jacksonville isn't a powerhouse by any means, I feel sorry for their fans. We came into the league at the same time but they have had a lot harder time earning any kind of recognition.

What I consider our biggest needs and potential FA's to fill them:

QUARTERBACK:

1. Chad Pennington, Dolphins: My favorite of the bunch. A true team player, high character guy with experience who would be a perfect veteran backup and mentor to Cam - and Clausen for that matter. We'd be damn lucky to land this guy because he's a perfect fit for what we need in a backup QB.

2. Billy Volek, Chargers: I know there was some chatter not long ago about him not being a likely scenario, but I still feel like he'd be a great fit.

3. Marc Bulger, Ravens: A solid veteran who I think would be willing to backup Cam or keep the seat warm. I did hear some things about his desire to still play football last year, which concerns me as far as him in a mentor role.

OFFENSIVE LINE:

1. Marshal Yanda, OT/OG, Ravens: This guy is perfect for us. For one thing, he can play guard AND right tackle and be a solid starter at either position. He's also a former Raven and worked with our new OL coach there. He could be penciled in as the starter at right guard and also move over to right tackle if Otah were to get hurt again, allowing Geoff Schwartz to stay at guard.

2. Chris Chester, OG, Ravens: Not as good as Yanda and can only play inside, but would be a solid upgrade at right guard.

3. Derrick Dockery, OG, Redskins: More in the 'Keydrick Vincent' mode, Dockery is a solid veteran who would be a good short-term upgrade at right guard. I'd prefer to go younger, but Dockery would probably come cheaper than the first two guys.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE:

1. Barry Cofield, Giants: Obviously a guy most everyone here is familiar with. There's every reason to believe he's likely at the top of our FA list and rightfully so. He excels against the run and is solid enough as a pass rusher. He's got experience (and a Super Bowl ring) but is still young enough to have some good years left. Would cost a big contract, but would be well worth it.

2. Anthony Adams, Bears: An older option and likely only a short-term solution until Fua develops into a starter, but he'd provide an instant upgrade. Was very good last year for the Bears.

3. Anthony Hargrove, Saints: Again, not a long-term fix, but would provide an instant upgrade until Fua/McClain develop down the road.

CORNERBACK:

1. Eric Wright, Browns: He's still young enough and has some good years left. Played better earlier in his career in Cleveland, but is still solid and could start opposite Gamble and allow Munnerlyn to stay in the nickel and Hogan to heal/develop. Not sure how much he'd cost, but if we can get him for a reasonable deal he'd be a good get.

2. Carlos Rogers, Redskins: Getting older, but would be a solid addition as a short-term starter to allow Hogan to develop or buy us some time so we don't have to invest a 1st round pick into a corner next year.

3. Kelly Jennings, Seahawks: Was never anything special, but would be a fairly cheap option as a decent starter until Hogan develops or we can address the position with a top draft pick.

i think Hardy is getting better, what he needs is more of a tutor or backup, AKA Andre Carter. Ray Edwards is going to want to start for the next likey 7 or more years. and Brown may be more of a bust than boom, but he's a valuable backup and Brayton is also a valueable backup.

As for Derrick Dockery, yeah, he's a good signing, BUT he's a left guard, i dont know about how he would be at right guard, in Washington and Buffalo that was usually where he played was the left side, if he or Warton could move to the right side, then Dockery would be a good sign. he was out of place in Washington due to their scheme.

Is it certain that Kerry Collins is leaving as well? If he stays, wouldn't they want to start him?
