I really like our chances to be competing soon. I do not think there is a chance we get Jones or Joseph tho.

That was my post from Feb. check out the one from where I bumped it to get my new perspective

i knew it was from Feb. i just dont really think Kiwaunka is going to come here, i think they re-sign Johnson. i did add a few names in, i keep thinking for some reason that Carlos Rogers would come here.

Mebane can be had with a 3rd rounder and Cofield for a 2nd. I believe either one can be obtained. But if you want to talk about most realistic in terms of whos most available I'd name Amobi Okoye, Mike Sims-Walker, and Drayton Florence.

Sims-Walker wants to go to Miami, i see him going there and if not there Washington will likely offer him a large contract which not many decline. Amobi Okoye isnt released..............yet. i think he would be a good signing, but i still for some reason think Harris is a better idea since he played in Rivera's defense, but i do like Okoye and would love him here. he's much younger than most DTs with experience. As for Florence, cant see him coming here, though it would be a good move.

Todd Collins isnt worth it, trust me. i know people love James Jones, but he's not as great as people are thinking and i dont think he leaves Green Bay. i dont see Joseph leaving either and i think they shouldnt go after Cofield, even though he's good.

Unless you give a reason why Jones isn't a decent target I can't agree. He's the surest thing to a WR1 in this FA as you can get (pending GB's upcoming moves post- this CBA mess

Todd Collins isn't good and I agree...but you have to consider who could be a great mentor. Sometimes the better players don't make the best mentors.

Derick Anderson - he won't take us to the playoffs most likely. But with Newton around we aren't going to sign a QB who will take us to the playoffs. He has experience in Chud's system and he did well in that system. He can be the emergency QB and hold the clipboard.

Say he sucks all you want but whoever we sign isn't going to be a champion. This signing is about helping Newton become a champion.

Barry Coefield - A very capable DT, he will strengthen the rotation. Most likely be the most expensive too.

Derick Hagan - he's a decent roleplayer from the Giants who can play the slot. With Shockey signed i think they may go with gettis/lafell on the outside.

Andre Carter - a better fit than Brayton.

Eric Wright - a CB who needs a second chance and Rob Meeks is the perfect guy to give him that chance.

Is Derek Anderson a FA? If he is, he'd make a really good backup/mentor signing. I don't see him expecting to go to a team and start any longer, so he might not object to it. Especially if he has the possibility of starting for a season or even just a half season under the guy that put him in the Pro Bowl, in order to drive up his stock and make him seem desirable to another team when Cam's ready to take the reins. The point about him already having experience in Chud's system (and succeeding in it) is a good one. I think Anderson could really be the best reasonable acquisition we could make at QB.

Coefield would be a good signing, don't think any explanation required. I think he's more likely than Mebane. The Giants have replacements for Coefield, but the Seahawks have no one to take over for Mebane. The Giants are more likely to let their guy walk.

I agree Joseph probably won't come here. Wasn't he franchised by Cincinnati? Or at least tendered. I've been saying Carlos Rodgers would make a good veteran signing for a while now.

I also like the idea of Andre Carter. He was a bit of a beast before Washington switched to the 3-4.

If Smitty walks, there's not really a FA WR I'm interested in. The other steve smith would be a solid pick-up, as would Sidney Rice if the injuries aren't a concern, but none of the FA WRs excite me. The best one, Vincent Jackson, is selfish and 1 DUI from a year long suspension. Not worth it.

yeah, for some reason, i feel like he will be back in Boston, though i would love him in Washington opposite Orakpo.

Well, Jones likely wont leave Green Bay, and even though he's a good 3rd reciever, he's never been a number one which is why i wouldnt want him to be the replacement for Smith, NOW, if we keep Smith, then James Jones is a GREAT sign, but if we sign him, then trade Smith, i dont think the recievers will be great. Jones has never been a number 2 reciever, that's been Driver. he's had Jennings and Driver for years, i dont think we should rush him into being a number one reciever, if we keep Smith, then we should try to sign Jones, but if they plan on letting Smith go and replacing him with Jones, they HAVE to sign another reciever.

As for Collins, good mentor, not great, if he was great, Campbell would be a pro bowl player in Washington. Billy Volek or Pennington are better mentors for Newton, Volek will likely be signed because he knows the offense.

Do not be surprised to see Richard Marshall re-signed. He is a better zone CB who can tackle than a press man and that is what the defense needs. Do I like him as a player? Not recently. Do I want him here? Probably not. However, a different system and coach could help him reach his potential.

i don't think he'll be getting anywhere near the payday he feels he should be getting..at least not here.

i'm sure they have a couple other CB FAs they are interested in. it would be crazy to thihnk they haven't at least looked into asomugha. there's also a couple FA CBs from baltimore that would be an upgrade like chris carr and josh wilson. they won't be keeping both of these guys since they drafted jimmy smith.
