Herm Edwards says Cam will impress in interviews

Exactly!!!

Wait, how is that not an assessment again?

I don't think I said he wasn't assessing the kid I was just qualifying what he was assessing.

I guess I am confused as to why some believe that Herm Edwards isn't good at assessing people's character. He wasn't the best coach but he is by all accounts a pretty good guy, so why do some think he isn't a reliable source when it comes to a kid's character??

BTW, just another guy who has actually spent time with Cam saying they like him. All the haters haven't spent a lot of time with this kid. Nearly everyone who has been around him thinks he is a good kid.

They just had a segment with Herm Edwards on ESPN where he said he thinks Cam will impress in interviews with teams. He says he has met personally with Cam and Cam has a great presence.

That kind of presence is an important intangible as well, translates to the huddle.

But...does Cam 'PLAY TO WIN THE GAME'?

i don't expect newton to be anything but a good interview. he's dealt with the tough questions before and he's confident in himself. he knows his strengths and weaknesses (his coach will have helped point them out). from the sound of those who have worked with and talked to him, he takes criticism well and has a magnetic personality.

he'll win plenty of people over and he'll be able to give them plenty of confidence that if they picked him, he would be an easy guy to coach, very open to advice and criticism and able and willing to learn whatever is thrown at him.

a lot of that will come naturally to him, but some of it will be helped by the guys around him who are preparing him for the combine....not that thats a bad thing. thats what most people preparing for the combine are going through. newton's preparation is just a lot more publicized (and criticized).
