It may take a decade to figure out. Early on it sure looked like the Chargers won that Eli trade. Rivers looked at least as good as Eli and they got numerous other high quality pieces. But when it was all done, 2 rings to none says the Giants clearly won.

Eli had the better career because of the SB’s of course, but the trade itself I think was a draw, they both got HOF QB’s out of it, and so much more goes into winning a SB than only the QB.

True. But at the end of the day you make the big swings at the top of the draft for a QB for one thing - rings. That's it. The Giants got 'em. The Chargers really didn't make much post season noise at all going 5-7 in the playoffs with Rivers.

And Eli was 0-4 in his career in the playoffs outside of the two SB seasons.  It’s not like Eli was dragging inferior teams to succes, he needed a fully built out team to win those SB’s.

If you remove the two SB’s, Rivers was the better QB between them.  I’m not taking away from how Eli played in those runs, but I’m not going to say those SB’s couldn’t have happened with Rivers either.

Which is why Eli had the better career, but the trade itself was a draw.

Eli's play in those two SBs runs was off the charts though. Two rings > none.
