The Brcye Trade is Finally Complete. Who Won the Trade? Panthers vs Bears

Yea it is early to evaluate the trade still but we've at least got some solid data to work with now. Bryce has completed 2 NFL seasons and Caleb Williams has completed 1.

I know he wasn't part of the trade but I also include CJ Stroud and the Texans into this as well, since we could have selected him in 2023.

As it stands right now, I feel like the trade is pretty much dead even. Bears got quite a few players from it but their team success isn't much better or worse than ours. Neither team has made the playoffs in the 2 seasons since the playoffs have started. 

Obviously the Texans and Stroud have been far and away the most successful team of all 3 teams, winning two playoff games in those 2 seasons and having winning seasons + winning their division 2x in a row. 

But all 3 teams have underwent significant change in the off season. The Bears massively upgraded their oline similar to what we did before the 2024 season, and also got a new HC.

The Texans overhauled their WR core. The Panthers got some very solid additions in the off season as well. 

I think the Bears are 2- 0 vs the Panthers since the trade,  but the Texans are 0-1 to the Panthers. 

What say you? Who won the trade thus far? Panthers or Bears??

Williams had loaded offense with weapons and great defense and he struggled.  He got sacked a ton cause he held on to the ball way too long and looked for wide open guys instead of reading defenses and anticipating throws…. Same issue Bryce had his first season.  You have to read defense and anticipate the throws to be successful in NFL.  Bryce got it right last year… Williams turn now.  If he can’t master it, Panthers won that one.  Also, DJ Moore has 1-2 good years in him so him and Williams chemistry will be short lived.  If Williams fails, Bears lose this one big time.

I acknowledged that in the post. This is more about your opinions on how the trade is going. As of right now. I think its fun to revisit the trade after every off season.

This is a good point, it may ultimately come down to who the better qb is. 

But say if the Bears have a backup qb and win the super bowl. Then they won the trade imo, because they still used a bunch of the players acquired in the trade to achieve ultimate success

Yeah, me too. Now if Bryce wins us a Super Bowl, then I might have to revisit it. There's nothing earth-shattering here though. For me it's kind of hard to judge a trade like this one because it's five versus one. The five should almost always beat the one. The team trading for a number one draft pick and overall QB are likely always going to lose that trade by its very nature because they're basically gonna have to bend over in order to move up in that scenario. At least that's my thoughts on it.

It's going to hinge on Bryce vs. Caleb Williams. Whomever turns into the better QB would "win" unless they are fairly close and then I would think the Bears would win in that scenario pretty conclusively.

Without this trade, T-Mac is not a Panther.

I don't need to know anything else other than that, we won this trade, or maybe I just did, who knows, but I don't care because I'm still floating on Cloud 9.

We lost the trade and ironically, it doesn't have to do with that trade. We lost because we didn't make the Burns trade. A QB ransom for an edge rusher, that while good, was not in the elite class. Making the Burns trade would have given us 2 future 1sts and a 2nd to barter with while keeping our own picks. Taking this trade was so obvious that even us lowly Huddlers knew it was a mistake to reject it. We also knew we were going to have to trade up if we wanted to get to one of the top QBs in the draft and you need ammo to do that. 

We could likely have swapped 1sts, added the future 2 Rams 1sts, kept the 2nd and our 2nds, kept Moore, and had an immediate WR1 for our rookie QB. Also, having our 2024 1st we could have traded away to gain several picks and likely recoup what we gave up in the Bryce trade to begin with. We could have done a trade down and still picked up picks and drafted an edge rusher to replace Burns. 

While this doesn't address the players taken themselves, I am more than confident in saying we lost the trade because we set ourselves up for failure before the trade was even made.
