Smitty's pre-draft analysis of Nalo

I’ve seen all offseason scouts saying not to even bother looking at his 2024 tape because he played injured all season and his 2023 tape is what to expect from him. Despite the injuries and other issues he still put up huge numbers this year so I think that speaks to the kind of player he can end up being for us.

Smitty lost credibility to me when he started kissing Tepper’s ass (and ring) to curry favor with the organization and exchanged his integrity in the process…  from co-signing Rhule until he was gone, to hyping up guys like Shi and Minho when the organization wanted him to.  I really dgaf what Smitty’s evaluations are anymore.  Maybe if he spent less time kissing ass and rearranging married women’s IUDs, his evaluations would be more meaningful.

I always liked Smitty he is one of my favorite Panthers but don’t care for his WR analysis or any thoughts on football he’s just not that good.  I remember when Larry Fitzgerald was a rookie, Smitty was on WFNZ radio after a game saying how he looked slow and wasn’t impressed. Needless to say Larry had an even better career

He is rarely even coherent.  Smitty is a great Panther but not broadcaster or talent evaluator

He’s one of my all-time favorite players, but he’s historically been a pretty shitty person.  I had first-hand experience.  I trusted Smitty’s WR evaluations when he put his stamp on Cooper Kupp.  But like I said, once he started making evaluations of our players based on what the organization told him to say versus what he knew to be true, he lost all credibility to me.  And like I said, him toeing the company line about things like Rhule while he had a front row seat to see what a fuging joke he was but continuing to hype him up on broadcasts, all while taking cheap shots on easy targets like Joey Slye or some bottom of the roster straggler…  it’s reflective of shitty character.

Smitty has little man syndrome, even in his evaluations. It seems like every receiver over 6'2 he has to belittle or take down a notch. He is a classic example of not being able to take emotion out of evaluation. He builds up the little, tough guys because he relates to them. But he looks at the fluid, effortless big guys as being overrated or not hard working. He's usually wrong about a lot of his assessments because he can't get outside of his own head.

Smitty has a bit of the Chris Simms complex.  Became a personality, identified a mid rounder who became great (Kupp), and then ran on that juice for a while, as someone with that keen eye for talent.  But over time, the hit rate adjusts and you see he's not the best at it by any means.  And now they have a falsely built-up confidence in their evals and get all defensive about it.

It's all good.  I hope McMillan proves to be a top-WR in the league and shuts these knuckleheads up.  Now it's time to get this team rev'd up for a big improvement year.

Steve Smith has a dislike of tall receivers. I feel like Smith's main purpose is to boost up small, lesser-known receivers.

Every time I've heard T-Mac speak, he just seems to have that it-factor vibe. I love how natural of a catcher he is. He's going to make some fascinating plays that's for sure.

    • He might not be able to tie his shoes standing up like a freak NBA player, but he looks long on the field.
    • Ugh, I didn't even realize until today that they only versions they have for T-Mac right now are the ones where everything is heat pressed on, not the "fake stitched" versions you guys are talking about here. I've always hated those fully screen pressed ones, they just seem cheat and crappy to me, and even though that next step up is still not the best, they at least feel like more of a real jersey to me and is worth the extra 35 bucks to get them. But of course they don't sell them in that one yet, which is weird, if they're all still "pre-orders" anyways, why aren't they offering the more expensive version to steal even more money from the rubes out there like myself who just can't help themselves?!?!?
    • If you think Smith's hating on McMillian or tall recievers you didn't watch the video. He may have been guilty of that in the past but he says outright that his problem is people see a tall reciever and tend to overlook everything else about him. He was complimentary and believes the guy will pan out. His only real criticism was comparing Tetairoa to himself actually, saying like he felt like he took plays off when he wasn't the primary target.  EDIT: The AJ Green comp they made is way better than Evans. Small finesse reciever in a tall frame.
