The 5th? He may not have lasted another 3 picks. Well never know but they knew RB was in demand coming up

Eh, I’ve never liked Trevor and his brother is my favorite college back of all time.   Rather of had a couple of others and some would have been there in the 5th….

Evidently we just don't want coverage with our safeties. It's weird but hey, we'll see how it all plays out. We sure seems stuck in the '80s and '90s with our approach at safety.

I think it relates to the shift in the league to more of a run-oriented approach offensively.

I thought we were looking for a free safety, he sounds more like he'll be playing closer to the line.

4.53 40 time, so he's got some speed

I am pumped about this pick--smart guy.

Ransom played multiple roles for the Buckeyes, lining up as a free safety in Cover 2 or Cover 4, a deep safety in Cover 1 or Cover 3, a box safety, and a nickel defender. His versatility is due to his sky-high football intelligence and understanding of the coverage scheme from multiple positions

Most times its injuries or off-field.

Maybe but this perfect for us

His ideal landing spot is with a 3-4 defense that can deploy him as a stand-up rusher, initially in passing situations while he develops his anchor against the run. The versatility he's shown - working stunts, dropping in coverage, even spying athletic quarterbacks - gives defensive coordinators a chess piece they can move around the formation. Put him in the right scheme, and you're looking at an impact player who should hear his name called in the late second round.
