I mean at this point I’d play Slavin on his off side. Burns’ metrics last night were some of the worst you’ll ever see from a defenseman in playoff hockey.

I don't think you weaken two spots like that and with Slavin still trying to cover for a rookie.

If you sit burns I think you Pair up Slavin/Chatty to have a shut down pairing

And put Orlov/Nikishin (he can play his off side) for that reason and the communication Orlov can communicate with him.

Eh Nikishin isn’t your typical rookie like Demi from Montreal so I don’t have a ton of concern there. But you do bring a good point about the language barrier. Orlov and Nikishin would be our Russian bash brothers.

Goddamn he was horrible last night. His iron man streak doesn’t matter in the playoffs. Play Nikishin now.

@Panthers Fan 69 I love your passion, but I am really glad you aren't the coach of the Canes.  You have some real knee jerk reactions to single games by our guys.  They are human too bro, calm down and let's just keep the faith brother!

Let's Go Canes!!!

Literally an ahl player

Ok, so you don't have a serious answer.

I am just trying to point out you can't just get pissed off and say off the wall things when there isn't a better option that won't help the team's chemistry.

I am sure Burnsy knows he played like hot garbage last night and RBA might have even told him, not that a vet that's played as long as he has needs to know that.

Anyways, y'all carry on with the knee jerk shizz.

No, literally call up any of our AHL defenseman to replace him. Obviously it's too late now, but he should have been phased out of our lineup much earlier in the season and been turned into the 7th defenseman. I could care less about his iron Man streak - I care about winning.

This isn't a one bad game sample size - he's been awful most of the year and the only reason why his stats aren't much worse is because he has arguably the best defensive defenseman in the NHL as his d partner to constantly bail him out.

    • I have a tougher scale than others and gave it a nights sleep. I feel its a solid "B". They knew Tmac in the 1st, would have no WR equal in the 2nd/57. Nic was rated in the 20s on many boards, Im sure on NFL ones too. It was the smart move to draft that way, plus since they seem............ committed to BY and he was throwing with Tmac(bonding). BY told the whole staff to draft him.  They changed gears lots, but didn't pay future picks. They were not going to fill all the needs, just how bad it is. But I feel the DL has enough talent and depth now. They will be cutting players that other teams will want. They attacked the UDFA at DBs, maybe one of two stick. I feel it was a smart outcome and half of players dropped below their true value while in the range of the Panthers pick. Part of it was due to 3-4 vs 4-3, but I thought overall they played a great "draft" game. I think its higher than normal odds that 3(maybe more) starters will come out of this draft too. That alone would make it "A+", but that's after two full years before it plays out, until then solid "B".
    • And how many back to back winning seasons did we have? What was the teams lifetime winning percentage? I’d wager around .500 at best. I will love the Panthers forever no matter what but that is literally the definition of mediocrity bud.
    • We have certainly set it up to be.  Which I feel we should. He may have one more year, but I feel like if he doesn't solidify himself as a franchise QB this year, real competition will be brought in next year. Depends on how good or bad he really is, which will unfold this year.
