XL honestly looks like a loss cause to me. Might explain more why we took Tet at 8

I mean, I think they still want to attempt to develop him but the pursuit of Higgins should have been the dead giveaway that they probably now view him as a long term project, at best. I think that is accurate.

Kiper KOD for poor Matt Golden.

I did too.  Cincy might take a CB or Bama LB Campbell.  It is going to be difficult for Morgan to wait through 20 somethng picks in the second.  I think he will trade up a bit.

Just now, NAS said:

Morgan kept talking about Tet’s hands and body control, things that XL struggled with

I mean.....our best WR has consistently been a guy WAY slower than Tet with exceptional hands. At the end of the day, that 40 time doesn't mean a damn thing if you can't catch the ball.

The CB's dropping are wild. This is a pretty deep class there, although perhaps loaded with a lot of scheme specific players.

Wasn't big on him when we drafted him, but the dude has no idea how to run a route. Rounds off most of his in/out routes and has no clue where to get open against zone coverage

I wasn't big on him either but I didnt think he looked that bad to write him off so soon.

    • Yeah this is how I feel. If I'm the Panthers, I check in with each team starting around 38, see if they'll take one of our 4ths and 57 for their pick, and if not, thank them and hang up the phone. Hopefully we don't obsess over 1 player and massively overpay in desperation.
    • Could still be true and they were as surprised as the rest of us. Doesn't really matter though as long as it works out. I like that Canales and Morgan seem to be on the same page.  Probably the most in sync GM/HC combo we've had. I actually believe him when they say "our guy."  I felt like Fitterer took orders or signed a former player of his most of the time, Gettleman had his own kingdom, and Hurney was somewhere in between. These two seem to have a shared vision of what this team can be and I haven't seen that out of the front office in a long time, if ever.
    • nah I am just sick of this poverty ass franchise making stupid ass mistakes.  This feels exactly like last year with XL.  Sure I hope I am wrong but Im not going to be.  We are the 2005 detroit lions.  I will reiterate again, we had the worst defense in the history of the nfl and we choose (another) first round wr, one that is not particularly fast or have have elite route running at pick #8.   When you say that out loud it just makes you shake your head at pick 8   guess the player player A Weaknesses Linear release makes it tougher to elude press. Doesn't create much threat in the drive phase. Routes could use better urgency and finish. Forced into a heavy percentage of contested targets. Takes inconsistent paths to the deep ball when tracking. Average toughness on run after catch. Player B Weaknesses Can win the catch phase, but the release and route phases lack polish. Tennessee’s tight press-man coverage was all over him for much of the game. Rushes through route design rather than selling it to the cornerbacks. Below-average quickness getting in and out of his breaks. Hits cruise control and waits for jump balls rather than keeping foot on the gas.
