I actually put my phone on airplane mode around the 5th pick.

While I know my friends, if we took T-Mac, they'd have let me have the moment and would have kept quiet.  But if they saw we took someone else on Twitter before it was shown, I don't think they'd have been able to hold back from sending some half cryptic text.

In the end, I was right, if they did see it beforehand, nobody texted me, but I'm still glad I did it as it gave me a moment that I'll kinda never forget.  And I say kinda, because while I won't forget Thursday night, in a way, I kinda blacked out for the next hour, at one point I looked up and saw they were on like the 12th or 13th pick at that point, I had zero idea what had gone on, my head was still spinning.

I actually completely understand this, sadly lol. I had the same reaction when we drafted Luke. I did so much research on him and wanted no one else in the 1st round. He was the guy. When Goodell read his name on the card, I lost it. I called my uncle (another diehard Panthers fan) and got lost in celebrating until I looked up and 10 picks had gone by.

YUP!

But also for me, remember, this wasn't about me doing research on a player and really wanting him.  I'm an Arizona alum and T-Mac is arguably our best player in school history, this was huge for me.

I still don't have much of a voice right now from how much I was screaming that night (although part of that is also from all the celebrating Wrexham's big win this weekend for 3 straight promotions).

Maybe in a year or two, but for this year, T-Mac needs to almost exclusively line up on the outside.

Yes, T-Mac very much excels in that power slot role, and it would be smart for us to use him that way.  But right now we basically have T-Mac and a whole bunch of guys who are probably best suited to line up out of the slot.

We need to develop XL and Coker more so they can slide our there when T-Mac slides into the slot for a snap.

Pittman is another decent comp and how Indy uses him is how I’d like to see McMillan used. I think TMac has a little more juice than Pittman but it’s close. That’s not a dig at TMac

Those are Pittman’s numbers. I think Tmac will be a big part of our redzone offense so if TMac puts up Pittman-like numbers but with 6-8 touchdowns are we going to be upset? I’m not

I really like Coker and I believe he can do it all. You can line him up anywhere. I think what we saw from XL drop wise will always be there moving forward so he’s forever going to be a frustrating one to watch. Unless XL has busted his ass this offseason changing the way he’s caught the ball his entire life the drop issue isn’t going away

A Lot of people had T-Mac rated 4th or 5th in this class.

I think he makes an immediate impact and considering the master class that was day 2... This will probably end up being one of the Panthers best draft classes ever.

I am in agreement.

No matter how one feels about T-Mac, he is a great pass catcher which immediately makes our receiving room better.

Dan Morgan and company did their home work, and worked the draft. We have what looks like a quality draft rally. Is going to be fun and even exciting to see these guts develop.

Pittman was a 2nd round pick.  If our 8 overall pick just produced that, then there is a problem

If tmac only has 2 1000 yard seasons and never tops more then 6 tds in 5 years then he is a bust all things considered.  If his stats mirror pittman as your post suggests then we should be upset.

I think the "terrible logic" part was about Pittman being a 2nd Rounder.

Because yes, I 1,000% expect T-Mac to put up better stats than Pittman has, but where they are drafted is now completely irrelevant and a sunk cost.

I mean not really there are expectations on players based on where they are drafted.  For example a player in the top 10 should be an immediate contributing starter.   Thats universally understood
