Charlie Campbell (who has correctly predicted Panthers 1st round pick the past 6 years) final mock draft

Not if he takes Warren and the Panthers win 10 games and dude has 10 touchdowns and Bryce has 40 total touchdowns. Had he played at the pace of his scoring after his benching, he would’ve had around 40 touchdowns so that’s not impossible.

The depth of defense in this draft is wild, and the drop in talent is not that high. Take Warren Dan.

take, Warren. Do it.

They are not taking Warren. They extended Trimble to decent money and has never met with Warren

Verge has really spiced this up a bit with her Mykel Williams prediction (based on an inside and an outside source) and the fact that she called Jalon Walker a "smokescreen" (or agreed to that description).  The fact of the matter:  I see neither as a good fit based on their college play.

If Graham goes off the board at 7, I am praying for a trade back.

With all due respect to Verge and her sources, there's too many people (those in the media who would actually have a clue) saying Walker is the guy for me to believe any talk of Williams being the preferred choice. Maybe if their absolute goal is to trade down then I can buy it, but I don't think that is in any way linked to creating a smokescreen around Walker. Nobody in the top 8 is going to draft Williams so why create smoke around Walker to blow them off the scent?

My personal reading of the situation surrounding our first pick would be as follows

Option 1 - Draft someone not expected to fall (Graham)

Option 2 - Receive a good deal to trade down

Option 3 - Jalon Walker

I'm not against taking Warren (though some are). I could totally understand it. That would be a matter of philosophy. But if Walker is still available and we take Williams...oh,boy.

Any internal source giving info away is either playing a stupid info game or should be canned

Tons of sources at every team.

Guy that's not with the Panthers anymore says it's a lock for Walker if he's at 8. If he's there they won't trade back, it's a 100% staying and taking Walker.

Bunch of teams have him rated similar to Micah Parsons. Take that fwiw.

I think people have questioned Verge in the past and ended up eating crow.  She is only as reliable as her sources and she makes that clear.  Charlie Campbell--same thing.  Someone is going to have listened to the right sources at the end of tomorrow--and I appreciate people sharing what they heard--not going to accuse someone of being right or someone of being wrong--Hell, it could change between today and tomorrow--the draft shifts--etc.

NFL draft is more volatile than any other professional draft. I will say that I think Campbell's source that he's been using is still with the team.

I’ll never trust Verge again after she convinced me were CeeDee and I was so bummed when that didn’t come to fruition

Why?? Everyone's going to miss once and a while, even the ones that try to do this for a living are going to miss.

Since Morgan has been in the front office.....every first round pick IMO has been the opposite of the Hurney magic of just flat out drafting a healthy combo of the best/safest player.

It's need and hope factoring a lot.  Something always there with these top picks to make you go.....well, I wonder.

XL was a one hit wonder in college, Bryce Young a historical physical anomaly, Icky was a run blocking T for a team that needed a pass blocking LT, and of course we drafted a handsy corner despite the entire roster being bone dry at the time.

Horn turned out good enough to reset the CB market for 15 minutes.

Icky has continued to develop and improve to the point of where he's going to likely get himself a second deal to stay in Carolina.

Bryce has looked more than capable now that he's not playing behind an interior offensive line that's down to it's 8th-string and 9-string guards.

XL is entering his second year with one more year of experience, professional experience at that.

We as fans seem to forget that rookies immediately lighting up the league are exceptions, not the norms. Growth and development is what we should be looking for. I'd take Charles Johnson over Aldon Smith any day of the week.
