Bucky Brooks Final Mock

Forget all the noise.  I believe this is exactly how this years draft will play out (for the first 8 picks anyways).

Also, I think Shedeur Sanders is going to be the player that will fall the most.

Let's get to the picks!

Pick

1

Tennessee Titans

Cam Ward

Miami · QB · Senior

As the Titans’ new franchise QB1, Ward would add the kind of talent, toughness and tenacity the franchise has lacked since Steve “Air” McNair was under center in Tennessee.

Pick

2

Cleveland Browns

Travis Hunter

Colorado · WR/CB · Junior

The two-way standout is a superstar in the making as a big-play pass catcher and shutdown corner. Hunter’s unique skills would give Kevin Stefanski a Shohei Ohtani-esque weapon to utilize on offense and defense.

Pick

3

New York Giants

Abdul Carter

Penn State · Edge · Junior

Bypassing a chance to land a potential franchise quarterback is risky, but the Giants could take a disruptive playmaker to enhance a pass rush that features three quarterback hunters (Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence and Kayvon Thibodeaux) on the front line.

Pick

4

New England Patriots

Will Campbell

LSU · OT · Junior

Protecting Drake Maye is a top priority for a front office that wants to see the franchise quarterback flourish in Year 2.

Pick

5

Jacksonville Jaguars

Mason Graham

Michigan · DT · Junior

The safest pick in the draft would give the Jaguars a blue-chip defender in the middle of a defensive line that needs more “hard hat and lunch pail” guys.

Pick

6

Las Vegas Raiders

Ashton Jeanty

Boise State · RB · Junior

Pete Carroll’s apparent desire to feature a dominant rushing attack makes the Boise State standout the sensible pick to serve as his lead back.

Pick

7

New York Jets

Tyler Warren

Penn State · TE · Senior

Adding a big-bodied pass-catcher between the hashes would help Justin Fields settle in as a passer in an offense rooted in play-action concepts. Warren is a versatile playmaker with the route-running ability and ball skills to move the chains consistently with a ball-control approach.

Pick

8

Carolina Panthers

Jalon Walker

Georgia · LB · Junior

Upgrading the defensive front with a hybrid linebacker who boasts pass-rushing skills could help the Panthers create more chaos at the point of attack.

Pick

9

New Orleans Saints

Will Johnson

Michigan · CB · Junior

The talented technician would give the Saints a blue-chip CB1 to feature in a zone-based system that places a premium on “vision-and-break” playmakers.

Pick

10

Chicago Bears

Kelvin Banks Jr.

Texas · OT · Junior

New head coach Ben Johnson’s experience with a dominant line while running the offense for division-rival Detroit could prompt him to add more resources to the Bears’ front, even after it was fortified in free agency. Banks is a natural left tackle with the athleticism and shadowboxing skills to protect Caleb Williams’ blind side.

Lots of pre-draft chatter and buzz from top sources. Guys like Peter Schrager, Todd McShay, Mel Kiper are consistently giving out similar messages.

- Jags are not a lock on Mason Graham, HC Coen is an OC and he might influence an offensive skill player. Jeanty, Warren, and T-Mac are in play here.

- Raiders are not guaranteed to pick Jeanty and is more likely to go O-line, they feel like they can pick up a RB later in the draft.

- Jets are mocked an OT and Warren is in play, but don't count out Jahdae Barron, HC Glenn wants a stout defense and is a former CB.

- Saints WILL NOT draft Sanders and prefer Dart but they will not use #9 pick for a QB, Panthers lose leverage for a trade down.

- Panthers unsurprisingly are the most transparent team and can't keep a secret, will draft Walker if he is there, if by some chance he isn't, Mykel Williams is the dude.

Lots of buzz and smokescreen, but this is why the draft is such an hot topic and millions of fans pay attention to.

our pick will be very interesting...Jalon or Mykel.  Early everyone was saying Jaylon, but now they are leaning more to Mykel.  We'll find out in a little more than 48 hours.  I'm now cool with either one

A tweener or a guy who just said his pro-day was bad because of an ankle injury he suffered in the first game of the season. Athlon

If you are desperate for an edge, take a real one in Mike Green.

I'm not saying this won't happen but the rumors today on draft twitter make this level of chalk seem unlikely. I will say I think Campbell and Membou and MAYBE Banks all go before 8

I really think SF ultimately ends up trading up for an OT

If we were picking one spot behind the saints and it's clear we need a QB do you think it would be smart to say oh yeah we're definitely taking a qb at 9? That would create trade leverage. The Saints are doing what every team outside of the Panthers does and trying to not tip their hand so A) they don't lose a player they want and B) so they don't help a division opponent get more for a pick.
