Cam Newton's name is in the college record books. Great season, Heisman winner, won the national championship. He had a prolific year, and it certainly was exciting. He joins a long list of great college performances over even just this decade, let alone since the college game started to open up more.

I hesitate to say that a great college season guarantees great NFL success... Especially when it's only a single season. That makes me a bit uncomfortable. Tons of players with years of great seasons under their belt never made it big in the NFL. Didn't matter if they put up 4000 yards of offense and 40 touchdowns or more.

Cam's a risk, plain and simple. Then again, so are all draft picks... some just more than others. I tend to think the less film you have on a guy, the more of a risk he is. It's obviously not the only factor in that but it does count.

Young yeah he was probably up there. Leinart was close he could be on there.

I don't have Harrell, Brennan, or Chang on there but you may be able to make an argument for them but they are on the bubble.

I still stand by my original 7. Those were the standout seasons for me in NCAA history (at least modern history).

Sometimes confidence should be something that you keep inside and something that you should just show when you go out on the football field or whatever arena that you are competing in and that’s something he’s got to do a better job of.”

So will the comments help or hurt Newton?

“I think some might and then some might enjoy it,” Moon said. “Some might like that confidence. I think how you handle that confidence is the important part of it and I’m sure those suggestions will be made to him by other people as well. But I would rather have a kid that is really confident in his ability and also goes about doing it as opposed to just sitting back and saying a bunch of things but not really going about doing it than somebody that’s not that confident. So you definitely want a confident person at that position, somebody that feels like he’s going to be a great leader and somebody that feels like he can get the job done when he’s asked to perform in certain situations.”
