Why I Believe That We Will Trade Down

I think one potential trade back would be the Steelers jumping to our pick to take Sanders ahead of the Saints who seem to be a logical landing spot. Now I imagine dropping the far, the minimum starting point would be their 2nd and next year's first and when you factor that teams are willing to pay an extra premium for a QB, I'm sure it's a decent bit more. Not sure exactly how big the haul would be but anything less than that should be an immediate hang up of the phone. Dropping to 21, netting multiple premium picks and grabbing someone like Emmanwori would feel like a win.

They don't have a second.  I feel like a 2nd this year is the minimum

The players who will be available to us with those picks are irrelevant because it's still not a good trade.  And for at sam that has a recent history of making bad draft pick based trades, all this trade would do is make teams continue to low ball us in trade offers because it's clear we get pushed around.

And it being that type of draft is also exactly why it's a terrible trade, because it's a bit of a crapshoot draft, so every pick you move down, makes you more likely to make a wrong pick than a right one.  Even over drafting a player is a smarter move, because it means we are still taking someone we REALLY believe in, which in a draft like this is more important than value, because it gives you a better chance of hitting on the pick.

All of that is also before you even dig in further and see that this is proposing a trade with the Falcons.

If we're allowing a divisional opponent to move up from 15 to 8 to take someone they clearly badly want, you need to make them bleed for it.  I made my comments before realizing it, and still stick by that trade package if it was a non NFCS team, now knowing it's the Falcons, if we're going from 8 to 15, I want next year's 1st and 2nd as well as this year's 2nd, anything less and they can go kick rocks.

I complete disagree. Who is available is extremely relevant. If you have a couple of players you would be happy with and you can still get them if you trade back, you should do that in a heartbeat. Being afraid that people will lowball you next year is an odd stance. Then you just say no next year, problem solved. In this particular draft you can get a very good player at 46. But to each their own.

The one I still think is a juicy scenario is Seattle giving us 18, 50 and something in 2026 for 8.

I think Banks is on the table for them (of course Membou if available), and I believe some teams may have Banks much higher. NO, MIA, SF, and more all with OL needs. If they want a legit OT, he may be one they use their sh*t ton of assets on.

We could end up with a haul like Ezeiruaku, Noel, Mbow, Sanker…you could do a lot with it.

Its possible. If you want to roll with Darnold you HAVE to protect him. We've all seen what happens when Sam Darnold enters panic mode.

They met with Banks a few times. Apparently love Zabel as well. I bet we could lure them with all those picks they have. They’ve been aggressive as hell this season and we have all the FO connections.

This thread is entertaining, I'll give it that. This year, unlike most, I don't think anyone knows what will happen. What I do believe is that we're going to get the same relative value that we'd get in any other draft. Now we may not get the exclamation points, because they may not be there, but I do believe we'll get some players with a high degree of potential who will, at the end of the day, represent the same value of players as any other draft. This class will produce talent, just like any other draft, you just have to choose the right guys. This draft will be business as usual once all is said and done, watch what I'm saying.

Basically, we'll take Walker if he is there...unless someone wants to move up. We're not gonna get jobbed; we will be more likely to do the jobbing, as it's always the team moving up that has to give up the goods. If we trade down, I'll feel good about the actual trade. Now wether I'll feel good about our actual acquisitions is another story altogether, but some gems will be there for the taking (and, yes, I can absolutely see us acquiring two EDGE rushers if they are deemed as the best players available at the time).

This is probably going to be a bad draft to trade back in. Won't get what you'd normally get. Also Panthers really like Walker, if he's there, he will get picked. Only way they move back there is for a huge return plus still have a chance at Walker. So I don't see a drop back past 14-15 but I'd be shocked if they traded out and Walker was there.

Walker is a good player and comes from a great defensive minded school but there a questions about him. He could be a superstar or bust.

You trade down and will get a player with similar concerns and you jump into the middle of the second round where there are some good players.

HELLLLLLLLL NO

If we're trading down that far, we better be getting a 1st next year, a 2nd this year, and possibly even more.

YOU'RE not getting a 1st next year and a 2nd for 8. These mock simulators give you fair value for the most part. I've tried and most counter offers were rejected.

We trade down get a good first round graded player and jump into the middle of 2nd round and not having to wait for 57.

Plus if a stud falls to the late first or early 2nd round we could package 46 and 57 and get him.

Trade value from 8 to 15 is only 350 points.  Pick 55 is worth 350 points.

Fwiw we do have an example to pull from re: trade value

In the 2016 draft, Tennessee sent #15, #76, and a 2017 second-round pick to Cleveland for #8 and #176.
