Cam Newton: Self-proclaimed entertainer, icon

And anyone that thinks hes an icon should re-evaluate the term. and for the record (AGAIN), I actually like the kid.

I understand what you are saying. But for a guy that arguably had the greatest season of any Division 1-A QB in the history of the NCAA and brought a school its first national championship in 50 years he is likely an icon on that campus.

So he is an icon.

He is a national champion on an undefeated team and a heisman trophy winner. That constitutes some kind of icon.

definition: i.e. a name, face, picture, edifice or even a person readily recognized as having some well-known significance.

Perhaps you are the one who needs to reevaluate the term.

The definition of icon in the dictionary;

An important and enduring symbol; One who is the object of great attention and devotion; an idol:

So technically he is an icon on the campus of Auburn.

I truly don't think that is what he was trying to say anyway. He probably blanked on what he was trying to say and it was the first thing that came to his mind. Unfortunate choice of words and he is getting hammered over it.

I agree that Cam should not be using any social media accessible by the public.

I am confused. Did Cam tweet this or did Peter King tweet this about an interview he conducted??

Honestly I am confused bc I thought it was the latter and this is not one of those smart ass i am confused statements it is genuine confusion.

I don't know. I assumed it was from a social media source based on a previous comment.

If it wasn't then Peter King is pushing an agenda imo.

You forgot he stole a laptop. In some areas that is a felony with a 10 year minimum, Newton is basically a convict in my eyes. lmao

Yeah, that's right up there with ole Ben's little indescretion, and Mike Vick's and oh yeah, that ugly little situation with Ray Lewis which left two people in the ground, and then, Dante Stallworth, and Leonard Little

Add that to the countless beating up of significant others and yep, ole Cam is right up there on the evil list as a convict.

There are a lot of players in the NFL that should be in prison for various things, a lot more heinous than a laptop issue.

Some things deserve a little balance, don't you think?

........

........

.....and yes, I saw lmao; but, there are people on this board who believe this.

Blown out of proportion imo. Most people describe Cam as a humble guy. One casual comment isn't worth going nuts over.

This. I have personally talked to some guys who have played with him who described him as "humble" and it was completely unprompted by me.

That is why I think he just used a poor choice of words. Peter King may be trying to pimp an upcoming article about the interview.
