Big change in Madden 2010

I wish 2K hadnt lost their ability to use the NFL license. Their last entry, 2K5, blew every Madden game out of the water.

Well it at least sounds like it could change the way madden is played. Sweeps and screens could actually be meaningful and Speedy wr's who suck at catching in real life will now suck at catching in madden. It changes the game online a lot. Some gameplans you see online can't be used with this.

I played against someone that replaced there dline with LBers at end and De at DT, put there fastest player on the team who plays defense at DB at wr. It atleast takes away stupid subs like that. (BTW those subs actually work, you get mad pressure with your front seven with it).

I'll wait and see on Madden 10, It sounds interesting though.

Yes and no. 2k5 was definitely a solid hit, but it had it's problems as well (one of my biggest bitches was that the franchise mode wasn't nearly as clean and thorough as Madden). It does make me wonder what it would have been like to have four more years under their belt though, tweaking all the way up to 2k9. Who knows, could have been an incredible gaming franchise.

Oh, and can anyone here make a useful screen? I swear, by the time the LB's back off, my RB is already at the damn sideline. A pass to him and he is immediately out of bounds, usually for a freakin loss. I rarely get the screen to work well. It seems like the only way it works is if the LB's IMMEDIATELY drop back into coverage. Even then, with their superhuman AI, they read the play and move in blazingly fast...

My problem with screens is that...on a fair amount of occassions my running back will catch it, and promptly run towards the middle of the field OR backwards. What kind of retard would do that in real life? I am pretty sure that your offensive players run TOWARDS the goal line with the first couple steps.

This change in ratings will make Steve Smith dirty. I love Smitty in the game and on the field...he is a beast. However, in Madden 09 he is no different than a Desean Jackson or Devin Hester or any quick receiver for that matter. I will say that he has a nasty stiff arm in the game but thats about it. I can't recall a single time that Smitty made a catch in Madden like he does in real life. The jumping up in double or even single coverage for that matter and getting the ball at its highest point. Its simply ridiculous.

I actually use a screen 2-3 times a game. Maybe more. I love it, I usually am able to get it to produce at least 5 yards a pop. The longer you can hold on to the ball and roll to the opposite side of play, the better.

You would expect Madden out of all EA games to the most perfected sports game, but it never is. Always some stupid flukes and bullshit with that game.

They need to totally redesign the game from the ground up. They need to hire some hardcore gamers and let them have input on the game design. There are too many problems with it now. 09 is the last Madden I buy until they start giving a poo. 2k5 is STILL a better game than any Madden I have played.

He will jump up and catch them, but there just isn't any crazy animations for the kinds of stuff he does. One thing they did do: Smith breaks so many tackles it's ridiculous, and he holds onto the ball very well too (mid-air collision, when I throw it high, for example).

Screens only work if you have been throwing the ball a hell of a lot and even then it not a super play. The thing about it is you can exploit the AI cause of his super ablilty. It really has a hard time with PA and Double Posts. Really that would be a death sentence in a real game but most of the time the AI plays a zone and it leaves a guy wide open. The AI dose the same thing over and over again and it kinda annoying cause i would like for it to adjust one damn time but not in a way it has to cheat.

I loved 2k5 back in the day. The first person mode was a great way to switch things up and was a better experience than Madden. I got the newest Madden and a Wii for Christmas and I love it, but I haven't played it that much yet.

There definitely should be some competition but I've yet to experience the bullshit yet.

Screens work well for about half the time... the other half, DeAngelo loses yards or I have to throw the ball away.
