"If it were up to me to fix the QB spot, I would..."

We are the worst team in the league. Let's not forget that. We will not be good for a few years.

Bring in Volek. Keep Clausen as starter. Draft Green. Hold onto Pike or get another project.

Those are the only options that make sense.

Who in the world thinks that Palmer wants to come to an even worse team?

Trade down picking up another teams 1st next year, and hope they suck. Trade Steve Smith for a first round pick next year, So we potentially have 3 first rounders and if need be, can trade back up to get luck. By taking AJ Green this year. We dont need smith. Any team would be insane not to trade the #1 spot for 3 1st round picks.

HAAHAHAHHAHAHHA for thinking SS would draw anything close to a 1st.

3rd at best, and with his injury history, age, and salary...prob a 4th.

well, yeah.....we won't be good pointlessly starting Clausen and keeping Pike on the active roster. Neither fit the offense.......Clausen may end up being a decent QB but he isn't going to be that guy in a downfield attacking offense no matter how much people wish it.

CRA you can sit their and play stupid all you want but the only reason he drop was question on his charcter and leadership not his physical skills. Also Drew Brees was a 2nd round QB but he doesn't have 1st round talent because he wasn't picked in the 1st round. That was a dumbass statement dude please edit that fast.

says who? you? You don't know why teams passed on him......

Even dumbarses like Terry Bradshaw were able to point out his glaring physical flaws. Pretty sure NFL teams saw that stuff as well.....

Comparing Clausen to Brees is just as dumb as those who try to compare him to Peyton and Aikman as rookies. Brees had first round talent....and that was eventually proven. But again, there is no point in continuing to compare Clausen to legit QBs and guys who showed better basics as rookies and potential.

Your giving reasons why he was passed, yet when somone gives a different reason, you claim he doesn't know? The same can be applied to you.

You disregard what numerous people who watch tape to evaluate Clausen, yet Bradshaw, who's isn't known for his intellignt analysis, word is legitamate?

No one is saying Brees is Clausen. But that the argument "he wasn't picked in the first round, so he doesnt have first round talent" isn't a good one to use.

any vet over 30 should only be on the sidelines. he should not be given the start bar some unfortunate injury.

only people starting next year should either be legit contenders for the starting gig or there to increase his trade value the following year.

we aren't going to be getting any better by letting an old stop gap guy start.

only reason a 30 something QB should be brought in is to carry the clipboard and be another set of eyes for the young guy(s) starting for us.

Thank You MMP!! Cra always tries too say your comparing him too him or what this guy says is better then this guy. All too mask the fact that he made a stupid statement and got called on it. "If you were picked in the 2nd round you don't have 1st round talent. So I guess Steve smith has 3rd round talent and Tom Brady has 6th round talent. (not comparing Jimmy to Brady just crushing your statement and it's stupid I have too type this).

Fact remains he was evaluated too have 1st round maybe even top ten talent and it wasn't just Mel Kiper every scouting services said it.Beside leadership issues People were surprised when he dropped. No one thought he would make it too the second round.

And Terry Bradshaw Really??????

Sign Alex Smith away from SF. I know my opinion means little but it seems many of you were of the thought that Jim Harbaugh was some kinda QB guru so here is his recent comment.

I'm not gonna hide my feelings. I like Alex Smith. I like him as a football player, as a person, and he'll make the best decision for him. Some people say Alex Smith needs a fresh start, needs a new place to be or whatever. I say, 'Let that place be here."

So there ya go. Jim would like to keep him after seeing the draft class. I would like to see him here in Carolina. Then there is the CAM situation. i have two philosophy's

1. Ignore him and take Green or Peterson.

2. Hype him up as the pick and sucker the Bills, Bengals, or Vikings into a trade.

If we can trade down and still be in the top 10 it's a win win.

Personally i still say Smith and Green would make us forget about our offensive woes of last year.

I kind of agree. Despite what some people on here think, we can get quite a bit back for the #1 this year. Cam just doesn't fit our team. If we trade though, let's try to trade to a team who is def going to still suck next year. Cincinatti/buffalo/ Maybe Arizona.

-Then we sign Moore, send pike on a one way trip to anywhere, and sign either volek, Edwards, or bulger. and we go into the season with Moore/Clausen/Vet and let the best man win.

-The other option would be to trade for palmer. He would fit great in Coryell. That being said, I wouldn't want to dangle any part of our number 1 for him, since we probably wouldn't get an additional #1 next year in the deal, and I think that's a necessity in any trade down.

If I had control, I'd do just about anything in an attempt to get Carson Palmer. The guy still has a ton of gas left in the tank. The circus in Cincy has worn down his play. Get him a fresh start and I guarantee you'll see excellent numbers and wins from him. I'm not saying he'll take us straight to playoffs, but he will be a leader and he will win games and make us competitive. Give him the security of a good OL and our RB's and I think he'll do even better.

So, maybe attempt to get Carson, trade down our #1 to #4 and possibly attempt to take something else from Cincy. Perhaps a 4th? I still think Cincy values Palmer extremely high. Let Cincy take Newton #1 overall and see him turn into another Akili Smith (HA!).

Put in Palmer, let him compete with Clausen (we know who will win) and allow Clausen to develop under a killer QB. See where Clausen is in two or more years.

Send Pike packing, keep Moore.

I would hate to use the #1 in a trade with Cincy, as I don't think they'll give us much else besides the #4, Palmer, and possibly a late round pick (bleh) or some other mediocre Cincy player (bleh).

But that's what I'd do. Palmer wants out and he is an excellent QB. Carolina would immediately jump up a few tiers on the QB scale.

I still think Clausen is the future. Palmer is 31 and would be able to give us some good years. I want to see Clausen take over eventually.
