Carlmelo is a Knick!!!

There's now a rumor circulating that Deron Williams really wants to play with Amar'e and the Knicks, in 2012.

The Association really needs to contract at this point, as much as I hate to say it. Like someone said earlier in this thread, three years from now all of the talent are going to reside on five-six teams, and the rest of the teams are going to be sitting by the wayside, twiddling their thumbs.

Nice trade for Denver. They need to keep Nene and Smith. Build on their new guys and plethora of picks.

I agree a starting lineup of:

Lawson

Smith/Chandler

Gallinari

Player X

Nene

If they could get a top flight power forward they might be in great shape for the future

If they get Paul or D-Will next I'm killing Stern.

lol they might as well get rid of half the teams in the NBA.. within the next few years all the leagues "superstars" will be on the same handful of teams.

The funny thing is that everybody keeps saying this like it is something new!! Go back and look at the teams in the 80’s and the 90’s. It was only a handful of teams then that were legit contenders for the NBA championship. You had a lot of talent on a few teams back then too! This is how the NBA has always been. It can be argued that now we are on our way to having even more legit contenders…

I mean in the east alone Miami, Boston, Chicago, and Orlando are all good teams capable of winning a championship. Then you have a solid team like Atlanta, and a up and coming team now with the Knicks (I don’t think that trade makes them a contender this year, but they are set up for the future needing only to add a couple good role players which would not be hard. In the west you have San Antonio, Dallas, and LA who are all legit contenders, and OKC who is and up and coming contender. We have more variety in good teams now then we have in the past.

This is good for the NBA!!!! And changing it would ruin the NBA. Facts speak for themselves. Good-Great teams sell… mediocre teams don’t. Then NBA cannot be the NFL, there is not enough talent to go around. In the early 2000’s when there were no really great teams and star players were spread out across different teams ratings were far far down! Nobody wants to watch Bosh on Toronto surrounded by mediocre talent, or Wade alone in Miami ect ect. If this was the case those teams would have had more media attention last year, but they did not!! If you have every NBA team with at least one star surrounded by mediocre talent, that’s what you get. The difference between the NBA and NFL is the NFL is about teams, while the NBA is about players! It’s very understandable considering the nature of the sports. People can name starters on last year’s Lakers Celtics teams… The starters for the Bulls, Lakers, trailblazers, knicks, rockets in the 90’s. Those teams had multiple stars. Same with the teams of the 80’s. Just look at some of those Celtic and Lakers teams in history…. And we’re still talking about them to this day! People will not watch Kobe with joe joe joe and joe vs Wade with the joe joe joe and joe.

I love the NBA and I am excited for the playoffs this year more than any other year in the past. I mean there are going to be some great first round matchups because there are plenty of very good teams! I mean Chicago and OKC are now great young talent filled teams to watch.

The only difference between now and before is players are making decisions for themselves. That’s what people have a problem with… But it is very hypocritical of most people who feel that way. It’s okay for owners to cut players, trade players, move families over night with no notice and it’s okay. Hell a lot of people on this board say we need to get rid of X player, need to trade, need to cut him… And it’s okay for the owners to do it…. But when a player has honored his contract, and is finally a free agent and able to control where he goes it’s a problem? It’s not like LBJ, Bosh, CA, or anyone else played for 2-3 years and was like I’m out…. They were there for 7 years!! The same amount of time Durant would have been in OKC when his contract expires!! CA did denver somewhat of a favor. He Knew where he wanted to go when he became a FA, there is nothing wrong with that… working where you want to work. And now instead of having nothing and ending up like the Cav’s they got have a lot of pieces they can work with… at least somewhere to start rebuilding from.

I am not a knicks fan, but I am happy for them and Anthony…. They are just a few pieces away from being a legit contender. Makes for exciting basketball.

And I do agree with a few others that Contraction is a good idea for the NBA from a fans perspective. It increases the talent level of the teams in general. I think they can scrap 4 more teams… I actually think expansion has been a bad idea for the NBA because of the lack of talent available to go around. But as more stars make it to the NBA it will continue to get better and better. I mean Rose, and Durant have both came in and made their teams contenders…. And there will be more like them who will come in and do the same.
