Greenway is one of the top OLBs in the league so it's not a huge shock that he got the tag. I'd guess it was a tough decision between him and Rice and I seriously doubt the Vikings just want to move on from Rice. He's probably now their top priority to resign but without the tag on him Rice can test free agency if he wants.

If he does leave the Vikings it'll most likely be for two reasons. 1, money, which it's doubtful the Panthers throw a Redskins-type contract at him to get him to come here. Or 2, he wants to play for a contender, which kinda excludes the Panthers as well.

Every top free agent, from Rice to Ngata to Asomugha, people are gonna drool over and go crazy "omg like sign him already hurneeyyy!!111" but it's just not this franchises MO to go after the big name FAs. In other words, don't get your hopes up :p

Putting a tag on one player over doesn't say a team values one and not the other. It says more about how the team feels about contract issues with one over the other.

I would love to have Rice, I don't know if the Vikings will ever be as good as they were with a healthy Farve but the Vikings were a huge disappointment this season and I believe they are pretty tight in cap room so maybe Rice will leave? He is from South Carolina so maybe he would consider the Panthers to come home?
