I now 100% endorse Cam Newton for the #1 pick

Check out Google images for both JaMarcus Russell and Cam Newton. JaMarcus looks like a tub of lard on the field with his gut hanging over his pants in basically every picture. Now look at Cam Newton. Slight difference. Cam Newton has that Peppers/Hercules look.

Exactly, on top of that Jamarcus didn't come across as the most intelligent guy on the face of the earth in interviews, etc, while Cam comes across as a very intelligent guy.

Listen to a few interviews with Jamarcus and a few interviews with Cam and tell me they sound like the same guy?

I'll wait untill the wonderlic test and his interviews at the combine 2 make a judgement.

So this means that any QB prospect who posts a great workout sucks?

Exactly. Leaf was a decade ago and Russell surprised everyone. For what it is worth the rookie cap should help keep first rounders from being busts especially after the big payday. Newton's big contract will have to earned and will be a few years down the road unlike Russell who got it upfront.

Cam is so smart that he turned in someone else's paper (morethan once, I think) and logged into a major college's database with his user name from a stolen computer.

I think he's a great college football QB. It will be interesting to see how he does in the NFL.

I don't trust him with the keys to my franchise, though. It has nothing at all to do with his skin color. It's more about not trusting him to do the things that the face of our franchise will be expected to do.

18 years old, everyone cheats in school including you, he didn't know it was stolen, etc.

I don't feel like rehashing that tired argument again. As long as the right people vouch for him and he nails those interviews, I see absolutely no reason why we should hold something so extremely minor against him. You have Jon Beason in your signature, the captain of the defense, yet he beat someone's ass up at the Uptown Cabaret. That's not a big deal, but even that is worse than anything Cam did.

I teach at a college, so I see students try to cheat all of the time. After I catch them cheating, do I trust them to not make the same mistake? I try, but I do it with a careful eye. Would I let them get away with it? Hell no.

And if he didn't know it was stolen, why did he throw it out of a second story window when the cops came to his dorm room after they tracked it being in use there?

Thanks for assuming that I, along with everyone else, cheated in college.

As far as Beason goes, you have a reasonable argument. Two points for you.
