I now 100% endorse Cam Newton for the #1 pick

I've got no problem with Newton #1. His physical tools are unlike anyone else that has come out in a long time. If the only thing holding him back is time in a pro offense then let him sit, learn, and then take over. Bring him up like teams used to by letting them sit and not throwing their feet to the fire too soon. If we do that then I see no reason why he couldn't succeed.

Welcome aboard the Newton train. I hope you will help us in this constant battle that goes on everyday with some of the knuckleheads around here. We need all the help we can get.

Just curious - you are a fairly outspoken fan / new forum member. Where have you been until this January. Are you a Newton fan or a Panther fan?

Jimmy Clausen sucks. Tony Pike is 6'11", 126 lbs. Billy Volek = Kerry Collins.

Why not. Cam seems to be making all the right impressions.

Also, I have not said this in a few months, so here goes. Armanti Edwards was a wasted pick. Son of a bitch we could have used that 33rd!!!

My cousin was talking with Sal Sunseri (former Panthers defensive line coach from 2002-2008, current Alabama linebackers coach, SI's 2011 recruiter of the year) and he said that Cam Newton is the best football player he's ever seen. He was more worried about him than he was worried about Michael Vick when Vick was shredding the Panthers for that stretch of time.

I already had Cam Newton and AJ Green right there for who I wanted at #1, but this solidified it for me. So long as he has a great combine as expected, the list of reasons why we should pick someone else over Newton at #1 will diminish to basically zero. He has the potential to be a franchise-saving player that's going to be like a defibrillator for everyone: front office, team, fans, etc.

So anyway, I put a lot of stock into what Sal Sunseri says. He's seen the best and has no reason to prop someone from Auburn of all places, especially not to my cousin.

And many said Russell was the best they had seen, and Young was the best, and Ryan Leaf was the best and....

Panther fan. I didn't even know this place existed until January. I was usually over at Pantherinsider which is scout.com's site, but now a days it is a ghost town. With the number one pick I wanted to find something that was more active. I found this place and read for a couple of days and the responses were sometimes rapid fire and just more people being active on this forum.

So I started posting here.

I am a UNC fan and live in NC but my father's alma mater is Auburn so when we got together on Saturdays we would watch Auburn and UNC play. He also happens to know some people close to the program over there so I can get limited info.

Therefore, I got to see a lot of Cam Newton.

I also have made of hobby of studying the QB position for the last ten years so i am always spraying my opinions around. I literally cannot scout any other positions in FB besides QB. I watch as much film as I can on pro prospects and try to figure how their game translates to the NFL.

Anyways, that's my autobiography.

I really don't understand the Jamarcus Russell comparisons beyond the fact that they both played in the SEC, both wore # 2 and both won national titles.

Russell ALWAYS struggled with staying in shape, which pointed to major problems with his work ethic.

Cam Newton has NEVER had a problem staying in shape, he's a physical specimen, which to me says the kid is willing to put the work in.
