I now 100% endorse Cam Newton for the #1 pick

How long until his life turns into a gangster rap song??

I just get vibes from him and Fairley that once their bank account goes up, their skill and effort will go down.

Dude already got paid by Auburn AND by Under Armor. He's ALREADY a millionaire and he hasn't been drafted yet. He's still out there working harder than any of the other top prospects from what I've seen though.

you don't pick a player that you would have never consider if it weren't for someone else staying in school. I'm against Cam, now with that said if we draft him and he becomes a HoF super bowl winning QB I would be more then willing to eat my shorts but I doubt that would happen.

If this is the case, we should forfeit our #1 pick because we would have taken Luck #1 no matter what and not paid anybody else any attention.

You asked why we aren't open to a mobile QB.

He's not a mobile QB

Semantics and splitting hairs on your part. And it's old

My point, which you ignored, was that we should consider employing the same strategy. That was it, a simple we should consider it since it's burned us over the years.

What's so hard about that?

I dunno, but let's argue about who is a runner versus mobile, that's productive.

It's not semantics one bit, Vick hurt us with his legs. Freeman hurts you with his arm after he extends plays with his legs.

There is a huuuuuuuge difference.

Combine yes (to some extent), wonderlic eh... McNabb scored a 15 on the wonderlic and McNair scored a 14. You don't have to be a genius to be a highly effective NFL QB.

I would still like for him to be in the 20's. That would hush he is like VY people.

I'd be fine with Cam, Peterson, Prince, and to an extent AJ (provided Smitty gets a trade).

I'm not liking what I've seen in videos (yes, they're sensationalized as such) from Fairley and agree with the earlier comment of too much Haynesworth similarity to take a chance. Unless CJ walks in FA, I don't believe we need Bowers, and his recent surgery scares me. I know it's supposed to be a minor knee thing, but it may prevent him from going to the combine, and I'm not sure I like taking #1 overall without more data on the possible pick.

This is the worst kind of offseason for trying to figure out the direction of the FO, because without the CBA in place, we don't know for sure who is walking and who is staying, which makes it damn difficult to see what we truly need. Based on what we have in place right now, Cam may just be the most logical choice for Marty and the guys to make. We could possibly have CJ, Marshall, and other positions with starters come opening day next season, but we'll still have either Teh Jimmah! or whatever Vet we can wrangle in FA as our starting QB, which might be prudent, but might also lead us to #1 again next year.

And just to play Devil's Advocate, who was considered one of the most Pro-Ready QBs in last year's draft again? Being considered pro-ready does not automatically make you better than someone who played in a different system. Odds are, the guy who didn't is behind in the learning curve, but it doesn't immediately make them a bust either.
