For Yas and others that want a QB

Just as there were for Peyton Manning, Bradford, Phillip Rivers, etc...

You said there is nothing that suggests he won't be a bust, which is not true.

All the guys you listed were pro ready, Newton is nothing but the flavor of the year in College football. There are always fans like you that try to make one hit wonders into something they aren't

Who stunk in Atlanta, yeah him.

Yeah, besides taking the Falcons to the playoffs twice (including a 27-7 defeat of the Packers at Lambeau in his 3rd season), making the pro-bowl twice, throwing 177 consecutive passes without an interception, etc...

Vick did all that while admittedly putting very little effort in to learning how to play QB in the NFL, he did all that on raw talent. When he decided to finally work at his craft, he put up the season he had last year.

There is nothing to suggest Cam would not work at his craft from day 1.

THERE ARE NO QB'S IN THIS DRAFT THAT CAN START NOW!!! Even friggin Andrew Luck would NOT Turn this franchise around in one year and wouldn't do well his first year in the league.

If we want to turn this around NOW, AND build for the future its simple...trade for a Veteran, trade down from one, pick up more picks and take a QB to groom later. Its not rocket surgery folks.

Look offer Washington our 4th rounder which is essentially a 3rd and get mcNabb. Or try for Orton or Kolb, guys that are openly available. Trade down a few spots, get a 2nd rounder back and take a QB. But all this whining and bitching about the QB position is moot with a pick at #1. In fact picking at QB at #1 could stall our return to the playoffs.

why stop at making 2 trades which are very unlikely (and probably not the best thing for us) on their own, much less happening together

i was disappointed when you didn't suggest shipping smitty to new england for Gronkowski, Welker, Meriweather, and their entire 2011 and 2012 drafts

Pssst, Bradford played in a spread offense.

It's pretty well established at this point that playing in a pro-style offense in college does very little to prepare a QB for the NFL.

I want to see Newton not run from real competition like he did In Florida and actually perform in the SEC for years, not be a one hit wonder, then I might be impressed

LOL... Newton wanted to play and he was stuck behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, so he humbled himself by going to JUCO for a year so he could get on another team and have a shot at some legit playing time.

The kid wanted to play, so that's a bad thing?

oh btw i love the selective logic when it comes to highlandfire

on Fairley, who had a breakout year in 2010

"man i love this guy he plays hard football he is awesome he constantly gets penetration and he's not dirty i support us picking him"

on Newton, who had a breakout year in 2010

"THIS fuging ONE YEAR WONDER I DON'T KNOW WHY ANYBODY THINKS HES SO GREAT BLAH BLAH BLARRRHHGHHGGGHGHGHGGHGGHGGGHGHG"

If Cam came in and performed like Vick did in ATL for his career, would you be happy with the #1 overall selection?

Its the truth. Fans don't want to pay to see poo for 5 more years and wait. Do you not read and or hear the whining and bitching going on right now? And you want to wait 5 more years?

And there is nothing at all that shows this kid will be anything but the next great bust at QB.

So who or what are you suggesting this franchise do to correct this? Trade the entire roster for another to say.... maybe Pittsburg or some other team so they we be a contender next season?? Aint going to happen and there is not a free agent QB available nor one really via trade that is going to do that SOOOOO this team needs a QB. So, lets not consider a possible franchise guy this draft, so we can consider another one next one??

All this, "it is going to take to long crowd" are making no sense. I do not understand on how waiting till another draft is going to speed it up any. No matter what they are going to bring in a Veteran anyway. You draft Newton and let it be a Veteran, Clausen and Cam.

If Cam can to to Atlanta's defense, what Vick did to ours, then I would be ecstatic...especially since he's a better pocket passer than Vick was coming out of college.
