Mock Drafts

The draft looks deep at defensive line so they should be able to address DT without going all in on Fairley. Even going QB first reciever/cb 3rd they could still probably get Marvin Austin with the comp pick or in the 4th. I think it depends on whose available. Ive seen some mocks with Stephen Paea still there at 65 and that dudes a beast.

To me I think with the first pick it comes down to QB or Green, and I really don't see a receiver going one. Megatron didn't go one and Green is no CJ.

yes clearly the raiders were right for choosing JaMarcus over megatron.

You still gotta make the gamble and select one... 50/50 you get a pro bowler

I would say a 1 in 4 chance of getting a good qb this year.

Fwiw, I wouldn't make taking a chance on Ponder with a later pick. His arm strength is suspect, and he has had some health problems, but he might be worth a third round pick if he last that long. If he can stay healthy, I think he has as good a shot of being a good qb as Mallet or Locker.

I like McElroy<sp?> late if we insist on another QB, just something about him I like.

I don't like to play those what if games. Russel isn't in this draft and if everyone could redraft 07 CJ still doesn't go first. Regardless I don't think bringing up someone who had all the talent in the world but failed because he was a lazy drug addict is valid.

I hate how you guys make cold reads on your odds off success. 50% chance of success? Good risk? How about you actually look at what tools that SPECIFIC guy has and make a warm read? You know, not just throw caution in the wind and gamble blindly. Reading posts on the huddle makes me wonder if people can really forget about the act of scouting in the draft process. It's pointless to just say that historically, 50% of QB's have hit. How about we actually look at the tools set of Newton, Gabbert etc., see if they have the tools to make the transition and actually make educated gambles?

How could anyone suggest we take a QB first overall given the stock of available QB's? They're ALL second round talent or later but will be hyped up due to the fact that there is no consensus #1 along with many teams with high picks needing QB's.

This is a weak draft, at this point Carolina should address it's biggest need based on the style they're looking to impliment...that to me is A.J. Green or Patrick Peterson (the most validated/safest picks).

The value on DT's is overated especially considering how deep FA/the draft is with them, no need to take a character/takes plays off risk like Fairley, his demeanor is veyr reminiscent of J. Russell, not to mention the forgotten Corey Irvin who's still on the roster. Take the DB to sure up your secondary as well as Gambles eventual replacement, or take Green to sure up your receiving core; odds are Smith will be gone within 2 seasons and a Green, Gettis, LaFell combo doesn't seem too bad.

As far as those clamoring for a DE, I just say you must not know anything about our roster...Johnson, Brayton, Brown, Hardy, Norwood if we get a DE it'll be 5th or later unless someone is to good to pass up on between 3 and 4.
