Green Mock has us landing big DT on the third, win:win for my money.

Since last season, I figured SS would eventually want out. He has had 2 years in his prime taken from him. The frustration must be tremendous. When I heard he had a closed door session with the man, I knew exactly what it was about.

This would be a bigger story, but it makes no sense talking it up now. As soon as a CBA is announced, SS will demand a trade. From Rivera's comments, I think he knows it too.

Common logic says bring in a veteran to replace him, and we should. However, they are usually overpriced. I do not see a veteran #1 who will be there as an UFA.

If we draft a DT, CB, or DE in the first round, we are not going after a QB. Chances are we are going to bring in a veteran to compete Clausen, and continue to develop JC.

So how do you improve the worst offense in the NFL if you don't upgrade QB? You build the cast around the QB. What player in the draft makes the QB better? There is only 1, maybe 2. AJ Green and Kyle Rudolph. Since we will not take Rudolph early, Green is the only option.

The draft looks deep at defensive line so they should be able to address DT without going all in on Fairley. Even going QB first reciever/cb 3rd they could still probably get Marvin Austin with the comp pick or in the 4th. I think it depends on whose available. Ive seen some mocks with Stephen Paea still there at 65 and that dudes a beast.

To me I think with the first pick it comes down to QB or Green, and I really don't see a receiver going one. Megatron didn't go one and Green is no CJ.
