So Jerry Richardson...

Obviously JR isn't the only one with this mindset. My problem is that he's so fervent about being a greedy old fug that he has no problems with being the visual leader of this movement. At least other owners feel some sort of shame for possibly being responsible for buttfuging their fans, and don't want to publically call for a lockout. Meanwhile, JR feels no remorse for his greedy, underhanded tactics, and instead jerks off to our misery. Assuming he still has a dick and balls.

A lot. Like being in the negotiations room so I know first hand that the info I have is not being filtered and spun by one side or the other. Unlike a lot of folks who post here Im not willing to throw away years of trusting JR to do whats right for the team over what a few players and a bunch of reporters who were not even in the room say he said..

Where did this idea start that the only people allowed to form an opinion on the stories we hear had to be in the room? Does it not seem even remotely possible that Richardson, who not even a month ago had one of the most bizarre, Al Davis-esque press conferences we'd seen in this city since Shinn was here, could maybe have been condescending towards the opposition he's been priming to do battle with for two years now?

I would call 2010 a tragedy, and yes its worth what the PSL owners paid for it. The PLS owners paid for the right to by a ticket, that's all. They didn't buy a guaranteed winning season, or the right to see a given player, or the right to have any say in the way the team was run, or the right to take their shirt off. The only thing they bought was the guarantee that they had a ticket to see the game played..

A negligent tragedy, completely avoidable and absolutely the result of deliberate cost-saving measures all designed with the idea that "WE'RE TAKING BACK OUR LEAGUE!!!!1!!!" And damn what the fans think. But yeah, who are we to complain. We're lucky to have the right to pay $94 a ticket to watch one of the worst teams of the modern era.

I trust that 32 billionaires are not going to kill the goose that is laying their golden eggs. I trust that 32 owners who in many cases are extraordinarily adept business people are going to do whats best for the longevity of their buisness.

That's easy to say. They are the ones locking the players out to begin with. This isn't a strike. It's completely within the owners ability to end this whenever they want. It's not a galiant effort on their part if the season does end up happening. But if it doesn't, they're fine with it, especially Richardson who's been ripping off his fanbase for the past 12 months just in case he doesn't like the sacrifices the players agree to make before fall.

I have NEVER heard him say this... I did hear him say in his presser that the moves we made were to force Fox to use the younger players we had, that's called rebuilding.

http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/carolina-panthers/46958-jerry-richardson-called-me-this-morning-not-a-joke.html

This was on Monday and this morning I woke up to a phone call from Mr. Jerry Richardson himself (in Chicago for labor talks) concerning the email I had sent. Obviously I was pretty stunned but did manage to ask some of the questions I had put into the email about the franchise.

First I told him it was an honor to speak with him and I have always been and always will be a Panther fan. Throughout the conversation I realized that everything he was telling me was pretty much what we all believe already. He is cutting costs because of the labor issue and is completely thinking long term, he mentioned 20 or 30 years down the road, and from what I could get out of him he believed in going young and seeing what this team could do while at the same time not spending. I don't think he thought we would be this bad and was just hoping that we could manage with this team for this one season.

I Even when your allowed this valid opinion, you still will not personally know JR so stop talking he is is some hero who does all these things for good reasons or is a jackass and just wants to fug everything up. Just shut up and watch how things play out, we have last year as one piece of the equation but there is more time to go before we can make a reasonable judgment.

This year was hard, but in three years we can judge his actions, IMO, not now.

Carolina Panthers discussion forum and a thread about Jerry Richardson. We can discuss and judge all we like

Got his infrastructure built for him with our money, and did it in such a way that fans have to buy tickets in order to not lose their initial investment. Then he raised prices while purposely giving us a lesser product last year just so he could pocket the extra money and build a war chest to use as leverage while he locks out his workers until they agree to work longer hours for less money. All this while he's already profitable.

Gordon Gekko wears Jerry Richardson pajamas.

lol so now JR purposely put a lesser product on the field when just a couple months ago in midseason you were slurping his decision to go with inexperience and not getting better talent through FA to replace the aging players in 2009 the worst of which you get your username from

but but but HEE HAW NATE DAVIS HEE HAW

I believe that poster got a call from JR, but I doubt JR actually told him that... none of the other folks that spoke with JR said JR told them that as far as I know, and that totally contradicts anything JR said in his presser about his reasons for what he did.

Could be worse I guess, could be the Bozo who owns the Bengals, or Bud Adams, or everyone's favorite, Al Davis.

For the players, this is a brutal game, with no guaranteed contracts, one hit can end the career, bring paralysis or worse.

Adding two more games to regular season to an already extended 16 games, does not help their longevity or their bodies heal.

Rather than get rid of two unncessary preseason games, which PSL owners are forced to pay for regardless, the NFL's answer is to make two of those preseason games, regular sseason games vs. just dropping two of those games.

If I'm a player, i'm pushing for things I can win, i.e, if you are going to extend the season, raise the number of players on the roster, or do something which helps everyone, put weight limits on the positions.

One day, these players are getting so large, that someone is going to have a stroke and die on the field from their obesity. It will happen.

In the long run, the human body can't maintain these weights, and really, if everyone is 250-275 the playing field is level. The game won't be diminished either.

JR disappoints me alot these days; but, at the end of the day, if I keep paying, I have only myself to blame. Supporting the Panthers with my PSL $$s is optional.

When the owner forces 2-14 down my throat I can gripe about whatever I want.

All while drinking $6.25 miller lites and gawking at mediocre cheerleaders.

Miller Lite eww.

Mediorcre Cheerleaders ewww.

Whether he could afford it or not, is beside the point. This whole thread is about JR wasting your money, no? So why would you want him to waste even more of it?

Let me help you out.

Last year we wasted 6 mil on Fox wouldn't you agree? Knowing he's not coming back and giving him a team he didn't want and didn't know how to handle, it was a wasted year and a wasted 6 mil.

If you fire Fox before the season, you bring in the coach of the future who has a clean slate with the young players to build and grow together. Say you pay him 4 million. Now you are paying 10 million dollars this year. How much of that is wasted and how much of that is an investment in the future?

Hint: 0 is wasted and all of it is an investment in the future of the Panthers.

This year we wasted 6 mil and invested 0 in the Panthers future.
