I think he'll be at or around 7 YPA, with something in the neighborhood of 17 TDs and maybe 7-8 INTs. ~3200 yards. Completion % around 60. Overall rating around 85. 16 games started. A bazillion Huddle posters frustrated.

That works for me. :)

Until he can use the middle of the field that won't happen.

So unless he grows 3 inches or changes his mechanics he is going to struggle.

Break that down. We're talking a TD per game, just over 200 yards, and 1 Int every two. That's not unreasonable.

That's a big jump. He was averaging .333 TD / Game before and 1 Int / Game.

Do you think he can go from .333 to 1 and from 1 to .5 in one season?

Has there been a turnaround like that that you can remember?

Don't underestimate a year in the league combined with an offense that's actually designed to throw to running backs and tight ends. :)

I think the offense will be designed to throw vertical and the tight ends and RB's will be check downs. I'm not positive on that though.

What if you are overestimating playing time?

Then obviously I'm completely wrong.

Check on the percentages of Chud's offense in Cleveland. Very heavy on the Tight Ends and Backs. Something like 40% to the receivers.

You know to me the numbers overall don't really matter. You can average a TD a game because you have 3 each in 2 games and go four or five games without one. You win 2 games and lose 5. Hardly something to get excited about in any quarterback. Playing decent to me means you show consistency and move the ball on third down. I want a Qb who can rally the troops in the fourth quarter who can convert first down opportunities and play big in the big games. I want someone who is good in the 2 min offense and hits the wide open guys in stride. Hitting 60% of your passes doesn't mean much if most of them are dumpoffs to the backs especially those that gain 5 yards when you need ten.

Honestly I would 20 TDS and 15 ints if the miscues aren't in either red zone and you are throwing it down the field trying to make a play. Especially if they don't result in points the other way. I remember everyone getting excited about Carr's potential based on his stats alone. Problem was that he couldn't move the chains and win games.

The percentage doesn't matter. I'm not saying you are wrong I just would have to watch some tape. Just from memory the offense isn't designed to throw to the RB and Tight End's per se, but they were the check downs when the vertical wasn't open.

That in itself would translate to them having high percentages but doesn't necessarily mean that it is designed to throw to them.

Yet I do seem to remember them throwing a lot of RB screens which I am anxious to see and something I thought we should have incorporated more the last 4 years.

Just the fact the TE and RB are involved in the passing game will be a welcome change no matter who is QB.

It sounds like you're describing our offense last year, not the Brown's offense when Chud was calling the plays.

Checking down to a running back as a last resort is different from giving him the ball deliberately in a designed play. Same with the Tight End. And that's what Chud's offense will do.

Still on that Volek trip? lol It was more a guess cuz of the system & seems ideal for just this year, I'm not on the band wagon. :D
just thought that was interesting that he was saying he would love a tall one and so many people are still talking about volek being a good choice and th first name they throw out there when talking about vets.

well said.

adding to that, i want to see him be a frikkin leader out there on the field who doesn't take crap from smith or anyone and can put him in his place when needed. i would like to see jimmy grow a set and become a solid leader, but i just don't see that with him.

i also want to see the QB grow and improve. i want him to get more bold and confident in what he's doing. i didn't get that with clausen at all last year.
