The Blane Gabbert hype machine!

No thank's on Gabbert, the Bill's maybe...people, I've got a feeling Cam is the guy, and that's not a bad thing IMO, a month ago I was on the fence, but he's the best #1 pick, unless we trade down. I know some people want a DT, I do too, but they can be had in the later round's or FA. I could see us drafting green if smitty's gone, but I don't think that will happen.

I think it has more to do with the fact this is an insanely weak quarterback class than media hype. They work with what they're given, and at the moment they have Newton, Gabbert, Locker, and Mallett lol.

Everyone knows Newton will be the first QB taken. That will become a fact after the combine/pro day/etc.

I still don't want to take any QB at #1.

We need help on Offense. We were the worst in the league.

If I had any faith in Clausen or Moore, I'd say sure, draft Green. But they both blew up last year, and I don't think Green would suddenly make them more accurate or, in Jimmy-Jam's case, make him release higher.

No... it's got to be Newton. His speed could turn broken protection into gains. His accuracy looks like it will be better than what we have. He's dedicated. He's putting in work NOW to be Pro-ready.

Do it Hurney! Draft Newton!

That video may be the best case I've seen yet, that Gabbert is a one read QB just like Newton is. The vast majority of those passes came out in under 3 seconds and he was clearly only looking for one receiver. It's either that, or he scrambles, and he missed a couple of wide open receivers when that happened.

Also, I hate to even say it about the young man, but he reminds me a little bit of David Carr when he scrambles, because he's going backwards more than forwards. I don't ever want to see another Panthers QB look like that. No thank you.

haven't you heard? we follow up having by far the worst offense in the NFL last year with going defense heavy in the draft. get with the program.

wow so the cam crowd wants him to come in and start right away? doesn;t seem right. Or possibly start after clausen or moore stinks it up, again? that sounds like a disaster cam needs to be on the bench, he played ONE yea rin college for chists sake. i mean I think Cam fans are where the hype is, holy crap cam isn't a qb to come in and start. If you take cam a 2-3 year contract vet is a must, so I'll assume Cam lovers are in favor of a vet qb taking over the team. Personally I'd want Cam before any other QB but no way in hell for #1 overall.

no you're talking to the "let's take the best player available" crowd, at least I am anyways.

See, I have a real problem with this thinking.

BPA is HINDSIGHT... it's fuging impossible to say who the BPA in ANY draft is.

Look at Aaron Rodgers. We now can say, clearly, he was the BPA in the 2005 year's draft... but someone in San Francisco thought Alex Smith was the BPA.

So... yeah... all this BPA talk is non-sense. You draft for what you need.

i don't necessarily want newton to start right away, but i don't think he would do nearly as bad as a rookie as clausen did. we would still win games with newton starting year one. he does need to learn some about reading defenses, but even then, the best way to learn i by getting in the game.

whoever we get as QB, at least among those who we hope could turn into a franchise QB, i want in the game as soon as possible.

if they can't get in and do well early on, the chance of them ever being able to do well plummets. i'd rather find out sooner than later if they can do the job.

Unless Newton's Combine is a complete disaster, Cam won't make it past the top 10.

And as far as him starting... I think if he proves to Rivera in camp that he can do it, he should start. Otherwise, put Moore in for a handful of the first games... see how it goes... and if he fails, start Newton.

Yes, in this draft he won't. Especially in looking particularly in QBs that are available in general. To me Cam is a huge risk, so you take a risk and trade to get him and hope he'll fall. If this was last year I see him going early second after The Golden Calf of Bristol. If the FO wants to invest everything in this big risk than fine, but it's too much risk for me. I am not saying don't take it, I am saying don't foolishly approach the choice.

JR took a risk last year and well yea.

Luckier people tend to be 'riskier'.

newton won't make it out of the top 5. bills will most likely take him at #3, but i can see both the cards and the bengals wanting to take a shot at him.

yo gabba will only be taken by someone desperate for a QB. the team taking cam will be the one with the biggest balls and who doesn't want to be just another average team.

People dont want to admit it but if we are crazy enough to give up a 2nd for Edwards, and a first for Brown, then we are crazy enough to take Cam with our first pick. Gabbert will more then likely go to the bills who will take just about anyone right now.
