Have you ever had any experiences with the BBB? I've had a couple and just recently filed a complaint with them.

Had a trailer hitch installed at a body shop in Asheville on my SUV to pull a U-Haul down to Texas because I was moving. The receipt stated "Hitch & Harness" which when I read the initial quote I thought meant wiring harness, for the lights and stuff. So pick the thing up after it's installed, go to pick up the trailer and the lights don't work on the trailer, none of them. Take it back to the shop, they fiddle with it and say it works, go back to rent the trailer and now the lights and turn signals work, but the brake lights won't, so I still can't rent it. Now I've wasted about half a day because of this nonsense.

Take it back the next morning and they fiddle with it again. The tech says the wiring harness is bad but he got it to work. Try to rent the trailer again and everything seems to work. Miles down the road in Tennessee it's getting dark so I flip on my lights. Fog lamps don't work but turn on when the brakes are hit. Learn after stopping the rear lights don't work, on my car or the trailer. Took it to the Toyota dealer to get fixed, they determine the wiring job blew fuses. Repair was over $100, installing a proper wiring harness is $300.

So I filed with the BBB to get refunded for the repairs and to be reimbursed for the repairs needed to have a functioning hitch and wiring harness. I think I've got a pretty good case here. They botched a job, are blaming the parts, and are going up against their own service and repair guarantee that claims they guarantee parts and service for up to a year (and this happened a day later).

oh yeah, if it was a debit card you used to pay for the original service...

go to your bank and explain the situation... You will likely have to spell out the details in a letter form, but they should credit your account back and then the credit agency that issues the card (Visa or MC, usually) will pursue it for you... You won't have to go to court on it if that is the case...
