Im about to get this. I've been wanting a PS3 and i want this game so its a good deal. Been looking at them at pawn shops and they want $220 for a 120gb one. So pay 20 more and get a new one with more memory. Post if you got any better deals. I've been looking for awhile and the bundle seems to be the best deal.

This is an awesome deal and killzone 3 is going to OWN online....

It wasn't a stupid risk' date=' at the time the format war was virtually decided in favor of blu-ray with them having support from almost every major movie industry. Also when the PS3 released it was the cheapest blu-ray player available, the fact that it could do gaming as well was just extra. You talk about what Xbox did for gaming but fail to mention that Sony revolutionized gaming with the PS1......[/quote']

In 2006 when Sony decided to go with blu-ray, it was a stupid move. The technology was not even complete at the time. HD-DVD didn't fold until early 2008 - right after I got a laptop with an HD-DVD player. I ended up getting basically every HD-DVD movie for about a buck or two each.

And releasing the cheapest blu-ray player is exactly why Microsoft disabled the progressive scan function in the original Xbox. A $300 progressive scan DVD player in 2001 was ridiculously cheap.... game makers usually lose money on console sales, but make it up on software sales and licenses. Why would they take the loss if its going to be used as a movie player?

The 360 is marketed as a gaming console that can do other things.

The PS3 is marketed as a do-it-all that can play games.

Had the 360 not had its retarded hardware issues, the PS3 probably would have folded a long time ago.

I'm not sure how the PS1 revolutionized gaming. Buying proprietary hardware to save games? making piracy mainstream?

I really didn't mean to start a console war.

Heavy Rain. Little Big Planet. Mod Racers. Those should keep the OP occupied for months.

So what do you do? Hook an external up to it? My xbox rejects my external drives. PS not have this problem?

I know I hooked up an external hard drive to back up all of my save data, popped off a cover, took out a screw and I had the hard drive in my hand.

I actually thought it was a brilliant tactic by Sony to make a gaming console/Blu-ray player. Sony hoped that Blu-ray would be the successor to DVD. By offering a then cheap Blu-ray player Sony entered its third format war. Sony had lost two format wars already (Beta max and UMD). They have since acquired several movie studios that produce some of the best selling movies. They also got Disney on their side, and you never bet against that marketing juggernaut. The initial HD format was at a draw until Warner Brothers went strictly Blu-ray. With minimal studio support, Toshiba and the rest of the HD-DVD crowd conceded defeat.

Go along Xbot.....the PS3 wouldn't have ever folded and for you to suggest so is asinine. It shows how little you know about gaming. Sony above all is about first party AAA titles which they have put out plenty for the PS3. I own all three consoles and BY FAR the PS3 has the best exclusives and it's really not even close.....

You might want to amend this statement. In the US sure you're on the money but world wide the Xbox edges the PS3 out by only 4 million units despite a one year head start on sales and countless people who have purchased multiple units (like myself, on my third now) due to unit failure.....

Outside of Japan, who do you think the game industries cater to the most??? The US market. This isn't too hard to figure out last gen it was the PS2 that was king, now the roles are just reversed.

4 million consoles makes one the king.....is that you Bill Gates. Look I have all three consoles and love my PS3 and Xbox equally but the Xbox is hardly king. If anyone is the king the Wii is.....

Actually Sony lost they're ass for the first year it was out, a few exclusives like MGS 4 even threatend to jump ship if they didn't turn it around and quick, if they had jumped ship Sony would have been forced drop the playstation because by then there would have been no more exclusives outside of what they themselves made.

It was a lot closer to happening then you may believe, I would pull up a few articles but I'm on a iPhone and searching for stuff like that isn't easy on these.

Link.... Don't throw poo on a wall if you cant back it up....

Also on losing their ass the first year yea you're right they did. They took a 200 dollar loss on every PS3 sold. If you knew anything at all about console gaming you would know every console released the company will take a loss on it until they get the price of technology down. M$ also took a loss their first year on the Xbox 360 and if trends continue when they release the next gen Xbox they will take losses for the first year of that.
