About to buy a PS3, recommend me some games!

My xbox just broke... AGAIN, and my warranty expired. Tired of it breaking every few months so I'm switching to the PS3.

I figure I'll get the basics in CoD, NBA 2k11, Madden, but I know that PS3 has a lot of sick exclusive games that I haven't heard of. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone have a PS3 Move? I think I'm going to get this too and was wondering if it's accurate or if it's really laggy?

I've owned one in the past and it seemed more stable overall than the Xbox, albeit I had one of the old 40 Gig models. There is apparently some kind of hacking thing going on, might want to Google and look into that.

Both Uncharted games are must owns, God of War 3 is great if you like those. Metal Gear Solid 4 was awesome, the plot is ridiculous at times though. Little Big Planet is good, haven't tried the second one. Also suggest you look into Demons Souls.

Have not tried the Move so I'll leave that to someone else.

Ive had both the xbox 360 and the ps3. i think that you will be happy with the ps. not only is it 100 times less likeley to blow up on you, but it is also a more powerful machine. i accually wish that xbox would go out of business, because i am tired of gaming companies dumbing down the games for ps3 so that they can make them for the xbox too.

its hard to recommend games for you without knowing which genre you are into. check out one of the gaming sites like IGN.com to see how the games are rated. they have a rating for every game out there for every platform, and the ratings are pretty accurate 95% of the time.

just go to the site, and sort out the games based on rating, and you will get an idea of the best games for the platform.

Then why do they almost always make the Xbox version first? Multiplatform games are never as good as exclusives. Mario/Halo/LBP are unique to their own systems.

You realize how much the Xbox has pushed console gaming, right? Funny the PS2 didn't have a HDD, HD capabilities or a network adapter until the original Xbox was released.

The opposite is true of this generation, but Sony took a very stupid risk by depending on unproven technology in the PS3. I'm glad it paid off for them, but I bet they won't do it again anytime soon.

Microsoft $$$$$

Activision is a microsoft nut hugger. That's why Black Opps is a port from the Xbox version as well as why xbox got the new maps a month before ps3. Finally microsoft would love to push everyone away from ps3 and into a xbox.

thanks for the recommendations folks

and yeah, as for the baseball question, one of the biggest reasons I'm getting a PS3 is because everyone I've spoken to has said MLB the show is probably one of the best sports games out there. I'd LOVE to get MLB10 but since MLB11 is right around the corner I guess I'll have to wait lol.

    • Don't look now, but a 3-game win streak, including 2 on the road in back-to-back games. The Canes haven't won 3 straight since the middle of November, over 2 months ago.  Canes held Dallas to 23 SOG, with a lot of those coming in a late game flurry. Canes have had some difficulty keeping SOG down to where we're used to seeing them. The Dallas game was reminiscent of the defense we saw early in the season- standing teams up at the blue line and making zone entry a real pain in the pads.
    • Agreed with a lot of this. Couple thoughts, especially towards the OL/future cap things... First, I hope Bryce is good enough to command being paid a Top 5 QB salary. Great news for us if so. But as of now, I think he'd be in that mid-tier range, so that $60 gets cut to 30-40. Baker to Stafford range. Obviously the cap will go up and $60 might be the new mid-tier, but either way I think we're fine here. He either continues to ascend and gets paid Top 5 money because he's that good and thank God. Or, he shows he's Baker level, gets a competitive offer that's outside the Top 10, and we're "saving" money (but also paying someone who may not be the "guy" in that scenario).  The OL is the biggest thing going forward IMO. You're 100% right here about the need for an OL, paying them, % of the cap, etc. Which is why in the next couple of drafts, we HAVE to absolutely nail a couple OL picks. We can't realistically tie up that much money in our OL. So we better turn into the Cowboys the late 2010s and constantly have a revolving cycle of a couple highly paid pieces, with drafted guys who step up and take their place once we have to move on. One highly paid OT, one highly paid OG, and then find rookie deals or cheaper vets that fit well.  Point being, we're teetering on the edge of a few foundational pieces being here now. IF, and history isn't on our side here, we can nail the next couple of drafts...we're in a good spot when it comes to the cap and future. If we don't find a couple of defensive cornerstones and find reliable OL depth that can take over for Hunt/Moton/Lewis as they age or contracts balloon...that's when we're right back in hell IMO. No pressure, Dan.
