The Rock comes back to the WWE

Chicago’s own CM Punk is the No. 1 contender for the WWE title and will challenge John Cena at the Money in the Bank pay per view on July 17 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont. It also will be Punk’s last night in WWE, as his contract expires after the event.

Punk declared on ‘‘Raw’’ last week that he’s leaving WWE, win or lose, and though immediate speculation was that he and the company had come to terms on a new deal — and that his match with Cena was a reward — in actuality, Punk is gone and will put over Cena on his way out the door.

Like Batista, Edge, Chris Jericho and others before him, Punk is an established WWE star who’s leaving while on top. The problems for the company are twofold: One, they’re losing a huge asset in terms of popularity and effectiveness. Two, Punk’s defeat at Money in the Bank will be yet another example of Cena being ‘‘unbeatable’’ and his matches being way too predictable. If the plan is to leave the title on Cena until next year’s WrestleMania, there must be some interesting angles to keep fans engaged.

I honestly have Punk winning this match, considering the stipulation being added that it's a "You're Fired" match for Cena. Cena has several nagging injuries and needs a break. If Cena/Rock is gonna happen at WM there's no way Cena holds the belt until then. Maybe I'm wrong and Cena drops the belt to ADR at SummerSlam like everyone is saying but I can only hope Punk isn't leaving.

Cena needs a break. He is stale as poo. I don't think Punk is going anywhere. I think what will happen is Vince will "screw" Cena for whatever reason. He has been on TV a lot these days. In the end, Vince will say he picked Punk over Cena, blah blah blah...Cena comes back around Rumble time, then faces Rock at Mania.

But that would make the IWC happy, and we all know Vince hates the IWC. See Ryder, Zack.

Wrestling was the poo when these guys wrestled. Chris Benoit, dudley boyz, Kane(with mask), randy savage, big bossman, mankind, christain and edge were vampires. Back when everyone was being badass and Vince was in on the action..

I will raise you Gangrel/Steve Blackman/ Nwo Wolfpack .. Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio (JR.) as a tag team in WCW and Team Kaienti ( Taka michinoku and funaki ) and my favorite wrestler .. Shelton Benjamin as a singles competitor before he made his heel turn.

    • His o loaded with swift, dj, Keenan and Rome was inconsistent at best. The d was bad. And the game management was atrocious and lost them games.  He was terrible and made the team worse. I wish they kept him
    • That is my point.  I think teams make a huge mistake when they pay their decent to average QBs top QB money because they feel that they have to match the market or lose their investment--There is no way, for example, that Tua or Prescott or Murray should all be making more than Mahomes--I mean, Dak makes $15m per season more than Mahomes. People say, "Well, when its his turn...." But that is not how it should be--so my point was that Bryce can be doing mediocre to good enough in 2 years, but the way it is going, you have to pay him at the starting QB rate--currently $60m.  So even if you think he will continue to improve, at $60 m, he would eliminate any chance for a ring---so my view is, if he is not elite, you cut him.  So you draft QBs now and see what you can make of them.
    • With two 4ths and three 5ths I’m hoping we can kill it on adding depth. Take a gamble with the two 7ths.  First 3 picks id love to address the defense. I expect Tuttle, Robinson, and Jewell to all be on the 2025 roster but not after that. Be a good time to add depth and let them develop a year.
