Question about Mumford and Sons

So, I have only recently heard of them (last semester, to be exact). I know they performed The Cave at the Grammy's last night. And after looking up the lyrics and listening to it a time or two, I get this vibe that the whole song is a reference to Plato's Allegory of the Cave. I could be wrong, but it sure does seem like it. Am I the only one that can see that connection?

Well, the whole song, to me, really echoes the point of Allegory of the Cave. Being blinded by one's own narrow worldview, only to eventually escape their "cave" (their safe-haven, their own perspective that has been molded and manipulated by their own circumstances) and see the world as it is. The obvious line is here:

So come out of your cave walking on your hands

And see the world hanging upside down

You can understand dependence

When you know the maker's land

And the hints at "freedom" and "truth" make it obvious, at least to me.
