Mayock says Fairley is not top DT talent in the draft class...

This makes me understand why some have us taking Bowers # 1 overall.

You should be thinking twice (like you are here) for every single draft prospect imo, no matter how high some scouts have them.

Anyway, I've fallen out of love with Dareus really, I feel like he's already hit his ceiling and that ceiling only translates to a mediocre player in the NFL. Right now to me, if there are no QB's that are good enough for Hurney and Fairley doesn't impress them, BPA is the only road left.

Agree, I said as much in an earlier post. I'd rather have Green 1st, because as someone else said he and Peterson really are the only elite players in the draft (imo) and I think Green will have a higher impact for a longer time, but if we can trade down and take Dareus between 4 and 10 (or Newton in the same range) I wouldn't be upset.

Best case scenario for me at this point, trade down a handful of spots, get an extra 2nd rounder, take Dareus. That's if you can find a trade partner which is a HUGE if.

If you're stuck at #1 then you go with the best player you can get, no reaching for need. To me the really elite talents are Patrick Peterson and AJ Green.

Draft rankings order them by who is the best player at the time off the draft not who will turn into the best player. Determining who has the most upside and will be the best down the road is more important than who is the best at this moment in time. Especially since rookies rarely make that big of an impact their first year. And as someone stated the best DT may or may not be the best in your particular system. That is why teams often have players evaluated very differently than the draft pundits.

I say we go with an AJ Green or Peterson....maybe Bowers, but try to see about getting a DT with that first 3rd round pick. You may see a Marvin Austin fall to late 2nd to early 3rd and might be good value for us. Wait and see how he does in the combine.

If you have to...use that early 3rd to move up into second to get a DT IF you feel it's a major upgrade. If not...run the risk of seeing who falls and take BPA (TE, OL, etc).

So is Hurney. He called his bad picks "The nature of the draft." But when you trade away first rounders for undersized DEs, when you trade second rounders to draft small school QBs to convert to other positions, you create bad nature.

I know everybody is on the dogged the EB pick but I caution that we give him 1 more year 2 bulk up before we call him a total bust.
